Climate change

Despite the number of scientific studies done showing that climate change due to human conditional factors actually DOES exist, many Republicans aren't buying it.  Never mind all of the factories that they want to build will pollute the air and cause more greenhouse problems.  Never mind that the Arctic ice caps are measured smaller than in the past and ocean levels are rising.  That just all happened by coincidental chance.

But what if we mad climate change a real voting issue?  I mean, for instance, I cold wake up today and vote for a perfect 70 degree day with no clouds in the sky.  But if the rest of the people in my neighborhood vote for rain because they all just planted gardens, I'm screwed.  Maybe I could start a campaign to get everyone on board for 6 days of 70 degree weather and one day of rain each week!

You could organize "perfect" conditions for everyone.  No more natural disasters.  No deaths and devastation from tornados or floods.  Everyone is effected by weather.  If the weather was perfect everyday, maybe people's moods would be better and we could all get along better.  An end to conflicts around the world!  Peace for all mankind!  Think of it!!!

And then a greater power comes along and shakes the globe that you live in and it snows everywhere... ugh.

Just sayin...

:shakehead: rain at night, sunshine over day! Nothing worse* than wanting to work in your garden and it starts raining. And raining, and every time it starts to dry up again, rain. [we still have surface flooding in the garden and it hasn't' rained in two day].

Are you stuck in a snowglobe? You should switch it out for this one:

*I am aware that there are worse things

I was waiting for you to tell me that "Climate change" meant something entirely different in the urban dictionary!  :ETONNER:

Honestly I think you have something there.  For years I've been saying all the trouble in the middle east since the beginning of time is because it's too damn hot.  When the AC goes out I'm bitchy enough to start hostile action against neighboring states...makes perfect sense to me.

@crazydaffodil :laughing-rollingyellow:Climate change is something I have heard of before. Purple unicorns not so much. And I thought it must have been a reference to something. I should have just googled right? The dog didn't like watching Planet Unicorn. I'm still not sure that was the reference anyway .It could also have been the philosophy book I read 90% of a chapter on (that was about unicorns being on Mars though).

I just went and looked it up anyway. The first definition is not allowed because of a forbidden word. The other ones make me go :562479351e8d1_wtf(2):

A nauseating play with semantics incorporated into a junk science argument by the anti-capitalist, liberal, progressive, enviro-Marxist, left because the concept of "global warming" (man-made) continues to be blown all to hell.

A term which attempts to take the natural weather pattern and attribute it to the activities of humans.

Heavily adopted recently for use to promote cave living, the idea that humans are a noxious virus on planet Earth, and the practice of greater separation between the rich and the poor.

Yeah, but my perfect weather would often include snow.

Any my ideal summer would not include temperatures over 75F.

People; they have variations. :my_cool:

I thought "snow" was one of those 4-letter words than you could not say on FJ!  :my_cry:

My idea of perfect weather is VASTLY different than other people's.

I ENJOY snow. I live in a place where there SHOULD be snow, but there hasn't been. My SO likes the long dark winters, says it feels like a cocoon. I think he's nuts, personally. I know other people hate cold. I hate heat. Some people hate the outdoors, i hate being indoors.

There's actually a good argument that a lot of the problems with terrorism in the Middle East are a pretty direct result of climate change.  The Middle East is predicted to become unlivable in the not too distant future if we don't take concrete steps to halt climate change.
