Ok then...

So I finally caved in after struggling with combs and bristle brushes and bought a Furminator at the recommendation of a couple of websites and the woman at the Pet Barn (who clearly had no ulterior motive in selling me a stupidly expensive cat grooming item). I was skeptical and for $Aus56 I was crossing my fingers (and everything else) that it would be worth it. And then this happened.......     This is thing is FREAKING AMAZING. Both of them sat for ages

6 months on...

Remember that teeny tiny fluff ball that came to live at my house about 6 months ago? He's grown a bit. r

Warm fuzzies

I love cool evenings when we can put the heater on, but not as much as Millie does.   Yes, there is some distortion due to perspective in this shot, but he really is getting huge.

That's not how you beanbag.....

MissBlah got a new beanbag last week. It has already been stolen. Not sure this is the most comfortable way to use it, but he seemed to be pretty happy with himself.

In denial

Someone can't quite wrap their fuzzy little head around the fact that they might have grown just a bit too big for this.

Food, glorious food.....

Millie has always been food-driven. All food, any food, any time. But at least she had some limits. She would happily eat half of her food and come back for the rest later. But since Alfie arrived and there is competition at the food bowls, she has reverted to survival mode and is scoffing down everything in sight. I had noticed that she has been heavier to lift up but I didn't realise the full extent of it until I took this pic a couple of days ago.....

It's been an Alfie kind of day.

So the day started well....   Then for a break, Millie hopped up to her safe place where Alfie couldn't climb....     But Alfie discovered that he is now big enough to get up there too.....   And as soon as Millie climbed down for a while, look who took over.......   And when Millie came back and found him in HER spot, it was on for young and old, resulting in one of those insane cat chases all around the house and poor MissBla

Alfie's new plaything......

.........is Millie. Our gorgeous big girl is irresistible to him. Every flick of her tail is an invitation. He is a stalker. Every move she makes is an opportunity to bounce, pounce, swat or chase. And she loves it.

Alfie, monster kitty.

We're getting a little worried. He's gone from this:   to this: We've had him for just 18 days. I know kittens grow quickly but at this rate we will be harbouring a lion cub in a month or so.

Dammit Alfie....

Here's a comparison of Alfie & Millie playing with the same toy. They're not quite up to posing with each other yet.   Appearances are deceptive though. My sweet, tiny, cute Alfie is discovering his naughty side. I went to put my phone on charge last night and found this: : so I checked some other cables for tiny teeth marks. And sure enough... And he looks so innocent....

Alfie & Millie -sushi & posing

So my return to work this week has put a dent in my kitty worship. Apologies that there will be gaps in updates from now on. This week Alfie worked on posing for photos,  Millie got her inner kitten back and decided that toys are indeed fun and Alfie discovered people food (Vegemite toast, sushi......) while continuing his shoe worship.   You want me to do what?   Ok, how's this?    Nailed it!   Yep, just keep him busy on the couch while I

Alfie is a colourist!

So MissBlah (11) and I regularly have some girly-time together and enjoy a spot of colouring on occasion. We haven't done any since Alfie arrived but this afternoon we found some time. We had some extra help.

Alfie loves shoes

Alfie has a new passion. Freshly worn shoes. Stinky school shoes. Sweaty sneakers. Smelly sandals. At least he tries to look innocent if you catch him out.....

All things Alfie (and Millie)

Alfie was adopted from a shelter on 24 Jan 2016. He was 9 weeks old. He joins big sister Millie who is 5 years old and came to us from the same shelter when she was 12 weeks old.. Alfie is sweet, cuddly, naughty, cheeky and affectionate and already rules our house. After being the centre of attention for five years, Millie is being extremely tolerant of this invasion and apart from some minor growling and hissing is taking it really well. Alfie's great loves are food, toy mice, fo

Type 3B hair ... I just had my BF chop it to chin length, shortest I've ever gone. I'm hoping it just explodes to an Irish afro. It took me decades to learn how to embrace it.
