Coloring Supplies ~ Coloring Books ~ Part 2

Curious

Today I'm going to continue with notes about various coloring books I have.   If you have any questions about a particular book, I'll be happy to dig it out and answer specifics.

I'm trying a different way of linking this post, so you can see prices and it's clear that it's an amazon (affiliate) link.    Let me know what you think in the comments.

I'm normally not too "Christmasy," but this book was done by my favorite author so I had to get it.  I didn't pay attention when ordering it, just saw she had 2 new books out (the other one is below) and knew I'd like it since it was by her.

When it came, I discovered it was an "on the go" coloring book, meaning it's "pocket sized."   I just leave this one in the car and that way when I go out, I just have to grab my travel pens or pencils and I'm ready to go.

The designs are all adorable and what you'd expect from the author.

This is essentially the full size version of the book above.  The designs are not completely identical, so having both of them isn't totally repetitive.  I've found I don't really mind having 2 copies of the same design, in most cases, because it gives me an opportunity to try something different the second time around.

The designs are adorable in this one as well.  There are some designs that are more of a general holiday/winter type vs being strictly Christmas designs.

This is by the same author as the Creative Cats book.  It's pretty similar only with Owls instead of cats ;)   The designs are not exactly the same with owls substituted, however, so having both books is not an issue.

Most of the designs have a lot of smaller elements in them, so if that is not something you enjoy, you'd probably be better off with a different book.

This was one of the first books I bought.   I love butterflies and if you haven't noticed that by now, you will before too long because I have a bunch of butterfly pages that I haven't posted yet in Picture of the Day.

These designs all have butterflies, obviously.  They vary between larger designs with bigish elements, down to "busy" designs with a lot of detail.

The butterflies in circles with all the little dots that I posted for Picture of the Day a while back is from this book, as well as the one I just posted a couple days ago with the butterflies that are done in pen and the background is done is colored pencil.

This book has pages that are in the more realistic realm.  The designs are relatively large, but have plenty of detail.   I don't recall any designs that are super intricate.   I have a MOOSE page pulled out of this one to do in my current round of pages.

I am enjoying your review posts so much! The owl book is already in my Amazon wish list, but I was searching for the perfect Christmas book yesterday. I would love to be added to the coloring blog!

I admit to being a complete sucker for Tupperware.  We have multiple Tupperware pieces from the 70s to today.    My mom hosted a couple of Tupperware parties when I was little, and I hosted one myself when I was engaged.  I still have all the pieces I bought and earned, and my dad just gave me some tiny versions of the 70s cereal bowls that we had for years.  They are still good and holding up 50 years later.

You can buy Tupperware on Amazon now.  No need to host or attend a party to get it.

And I used to have quite the load of Princess House pieces.  While I gave a lot of it away to family who needed the bazillion plates and glasses that I had, I kept and still often use the Fantasia pattern bakeware items.  Brownies just aren't right if not made in that pan!

I read last year or so that the new trend for kitchens is to have a messy kitchen next door. For the things that make a kitchen messy, like cooking food. So that your expensive shiny open kitchen with the expensive stone counter tops stay presentable when you entertain or something. I can't wrap my mind around something like that.

That’s like the Duggars. They seemed to have their industrial kitchen hidden behind their “pretty kitchen.”

I read her book after this thread was initially posted. It’s a gripping but difficult read which needs to come with every possible trigger warning. Robert Hale was a horrible, horrible man.

Elishaba is beyond courageous for getting out of a terrible situation, writing about it as openly as she did, and retaining her faith after all the horrendous things she’s experienced. I can understand why some of the siblings might be upset with her for speaking out, but hopefully they will eventually come to understand. I also hope that some of them will be able to reconcile and stand by her during the health crisis.

There might be a trend on the rise with influencers to have these kitchen Part 2s. Audrey Roloff just redid their house and they have something they are calling a butler's pantry but it's just a second kitchen caddy corner to their main kitchen. I feel like Abbie's is that kind of attempt too. I can just picture looking for a box of macaroni and having to open a bunch of upper cabinets to try and find it and then reach up on your tip toes to grab.

I started reading it, but I don't know if I will finish it I got as far as the part where

      Spoiler

her dad throws her beloved kitten against a wall

and then said "I think I need to take a break from reading this." I know it's going to get worse from there, and it will be a hard read!
