Learn to love streaking

These are from Colouring Therapy Art Book. I used cheap generic markers that have Cars characters on them. They've got  a nice set of shades I think but everything becomes so streaky. It's impossible to color over the same area twice because they break the surface of the paper. I'm telling myself it's an effect and not a flaw. Oh well, at the price you can't get anything too good.

My 7 year old art critic said the skull looks creepy and it would look better in black and white.

I had to check this out because of the title.  I wasn't sure which kind of streaking that you meant -colors streaking, as this was, streaking your hair or the kind of streaking that I did at UGA in the spring of '74 where we took all our clothes off and ran across campus.  I wouldn't do that now, but who knows what I'll do if I get back in shape! It's true, btw, about not recognizing what people look like with their clothes on.

Btw, your coloring work looks great!

Haha, @PennySycamore, once again we have similar memories/experiences. Very funny!

@AmazonGrace, I've used, um, inexpensive markers and had similar results. I'm guessing the white show-through (is that even a word?) is not as apparent in real life?  But, I really like the colours and I think the skull is pretty rad just the way it is. ( :wink:)

@Fascinated

You're right, n artificial room lighting the white is not as noticeable as in the photo with the flash but then again, there are unevenly darker patches caused by the paper breaking that are more apparent IRL.

I like the butterfly the best, naturally :)   I find that you can sometimes use streaking creatively.   If you color in small circles it can look like fur with certain colors.  I think of it as "texture" and call it a day :)

    • If they can make graphics for social media, assemble fundraisers, and bake pies they can get some kind of employment. The stress of all of this scrambling for cash has got to be more stressful than many jobs!

      She said she uses to feel like she needed to get out of the house once a day. But she doesn’t feel like that anymore. And I bet it’s because she has 5 young kids.

      I really love being a mother, but if I had 5 little kids, I would be desperate to leave the house... alone!

      Someone said Tavia - I think it was Fundie infoplace on tumblr. Not sure if it was name or nickname.

      Tavia sounds like it could potentially be a nickname for Octavia--a beautiful and nowadays quite uncommon name, IMO.

      I had a similar thought - maybe the honeymoon wasn’t Pearl-level awful, but suddenly being alone with a member of the opposite sex and/or the physical side of marriage was shocking to one or both. For all these couples claim being married is the bestest thing ever, it’s got to be a difficult adjustment for many of them.

      They go from living with their parents to moving in and having sex with basically a stranger within a day. No wonder it’s scary and awkward.

      Surely they could get a swing set second hand and at least get out in their backyard. I have a basic one that I got free on give away weekend.  My daughter loves sending her dolls down the slide. She needs to get outside for her own mental health. Buy some sidewalk chalk and let Spurgie through Fern go nuts.

      I'm pretty sure they have a swing set in their very large yard. Jessa probably just sits on the deck with George while the other four wear themselves out. That's likely as far as she gets out of the house on a daily basis. She probably has her groceries delivered, and we know she loves Amazon.
