Pretty In Pink

Finally got my peacock page finished and took it outside this morning to attempt a photo. I read that natural light was better for photographing art. Gave it a try anyway! It was windy and somehow here in Florida the temps went from 85 yesterday to 55 this morning. Luckily, that won't last.

gorgeous as always.  Your orchid makes me so jealous since I can't get one!   Is this from the creative haven peacock book?  I may have to take another look at that one, if so.

Are you ready to start our same page color off yet?

Thank you!  Orchid is so beautiful...want to get a back-up, but as we know, it's OOS.  Yep, this page is from the Peacock Designs book by CH. There are plenty more pages if I want to attempt a realistic version of a peacock!  Personally, I would love to see a red and pink peacock in RL!   :my_shy:

I am game to start the ColorOff.  Haven't chosen a page yet...do you still want me to choose it?  Will take me longer to get it done than you since you seem to be able to color like a rocket and get multiple pages done in a week!  I'm slower and have to do it when I'm not really tired or I make mistakes. I will choose a page from one of our mutual books if that's OK...let me know!

Oh, a question;  why do some posts have lit up stars and others don't?

Yes, you choose the page.   Since I currently live in a recliner I have more time to color than the average person ;)   I also tend to do designs that are relatively simple where you do ones that have more detail, generally.

If I do one with a lot of little detail it does take me longer.  I just worked on the Seahorse page from Lost Ocean for like 3 days.   I did several simple designs in between finishing that one, though.

The stars are a "rating" system.   It's pretty useless here on FJ because hardly anyone uses it, but for blogs it's just part of the default and they can't be turned off (they can on posts).   Basically it means someone rated your post, so it's a good thing when they are lit up :)

OK...I'll probably pick one from the Creative Cats book.  I work part-time and am doing the usual Christmas wrapping and extra holiday stuff. My cousins have started clamoring for drawings of their pets after seeing my sock monkey so I've been doing my own drawings, which eats into my precious coloring time and I don't really understand it since I'm certainly no great artist and my drawings of pets are a bit odd and really don't look much like the pet in question. All this info is my explanation for why I may be slow as molasses in finishing the page in our ColorOff...but I WILL finish it...(once I choose it).

How does one "Rate" a post? I didn't know that was a thing...

Sounds good.  I've done 2 pages out of the cat book, so there are plenty of choices left :)

You just click on the star you want and it records it.   If you want to give someone 5 stars, click on the 5th star and so on.

This is beautiful!  I studied it and tried to think how I would have done the feathers, for example.  I'm sure I would have felt that there needed to be a bunch of different colours.  I love the 'simple' way you did it. There aren't even that many different colours in the whole picture, yet it's so colorful and vibrant. Great job, once again, @Tikobaby!

Thanks so much!  I think if I'd tried to be realistic, there would have been more colors. If I can remember correctly, I used Pink & Carmine Red Prismas, and Red & Berry Red W&Ns for the peacock, plus I went over the Berry Red stripes in the tail with Red to make them a bit richer, but not too dark.  Used the Orchid W&N, Parma Violet, and Canary Yellow Prismas for the flowers and the butterfly,  and Emerald, Grass, Spring, and Apple Green Prismas for the leaves.  Used Caribe Cocoa Copic marker for the limbs. Yellow W & N for the background.  Very glad you like it!

Well, now I feel you are just dropping names (of brands and types and colours) to make me envious, and, if that's your intent, you are being entirely successful :argumentative:!!!

When my husband asked what I would like for Christmas, why, oh why, did I say 'nothing'?

i hope soon to be able to elevate my discussion of colouring tools from, 'here's one I did using my Sargent gel pens'.  I hope it doesn't sound too weird if I tell you you have beautiful tools!  And talent!

Now you know I was only trying to be informative and helpful in listing the markers I used!     I think you should go back to your husband with a list from Blick!

Thank you for your kind words!  It always gives me a lift to hear that you like my coloring. :my_shy:

What if we do the page with the two cats having tea together with the cake and cupcakes and all the little tea set accessories around them?

Cool!  It will take me awhile to get that page done, no doubt!

Any bets on whether the baby will be going home from the hospital in a penguin onesie?

Oh penguin that thing is ugly. Someone in their circle should crochet them a cute one. Here's another option for when the child is a smidge older; it even includes a bow so you can distinguish that she's a penguinette.

Yes. There are always reasons for if it didn't work out. The people involved are blamed as the problem not the cult-like teaching.

It's weird how it's never the ideology that is flawed or incorrect.  No, it's definitely that people are doing it wrong, because if they were doing it right, it would work.

(I still feel bad for Kelly, frankly.)

Katie (Bates) and Travis Clark are having a boy. They uploaded the gender reveal.

After so many girls, the Bates have been on a major boy streak.

I feel like maybe it's a regional thing, more than religious. My Appalachian relatives who don't darken the door of a church outside weddings or funerals also adorn baby girls with giant bows. Most recent baby girl born has bows around 4 times the size of her head in most photos.

Yeah, it's a big thing in Hawaii/Alaska too, and I don't think it has anything to do with religion or Jesus.
