Snowflakes

Thanks to El Nino our winter has been pretty non-existent- it's been raining all day here, so I spent my Sunday afternoon finishing two snowflake mandalas. They're from a Creative Haven book.

These are both really pretty.  I like that you've incorporated some purples.  I tend to use just blues in my snowflakes and there are a couple designs from my Christmas book that I just keep putting off because I like the rest of the design, but there are a lot of snowflakes and mine are b o r i n g.

I'm going to pull one out in my next round and try to use some purples more and see if I don't like them better.

I also really like the blue-grey(?) color you've used in the second one (behind the silver snowflakes)

@Curious In real life those colors are closer to being blues- I've decided there's something funky with my scanner. I was scanning something else today and a fluorescent pink highlighter came through looking like pastel pink :/  I wonder if it's too late to ask Santa for a new scanner for Christmas?

The blue-grey color is a metallic blue from a set of cheap gel pens from Michael's (Reflections/Recollections?) it was $5 for a set of 20 and it shows I used about half the pen on that page.

But in other news- doing the snowflake designs worked because it's snowing outside! Hopefully it will finally stick so the ski hills around here can open and we can have a white Christmas!

Well I think the purpley look is kind of cool, so it gave me an idea even if it's not really those colors in real life :)

Another set of gel pens I don't think I have *grumble*

I don't know that I'd bother with those- they're cheap and it shows.

It seems like the cheap stuff is either good or bad.  Not much middle ground.  I have a couple sets of cheap gel pens/markers that are just as nice as the more expensive ones and one of my favorite colored pencil sets was $5.99 at Staples.

Then I have one set of relatively expensive gel pens that are pretty crappy, which is disappointing.  Finding a cheap set that's great is a lot better than discovering the more expensive ones you got aren't that great.

Any bets on whether the baby will be going home from the hospital in a penguin onesie?

Oh penguin that thing is ugly. Someone in their circle should crochet them a cute one. Here's another option for when the child is a smidge older; it even includes a bow so you can distinguish that she's a penguinette.

Yes. There are always reasons for if it didn't work out. The people involved are blamed as the problem not the cult-like teaching.

It's weird how it's never the ideology that is flawed or incorrect.  No, it's definitely that people are doing it wrong, because if they were doing it right, it would work.

(I still feel bad for Kelly, frankly.)

Katie (Bates) and Travis Clark are having a boy. They uploaded the gender reveal.

After so many girls, the Bates have been on a major boy streak.

I feel like maybe it's a regional thing, more than religious. My Appalachian relatives who don't darken the door of a church outside weddings or funerals also adorn baby girls with giant bows. Most recent baby girl born has bows around 4 times the size of her head in most photos.

Yeah, it's a big thing in Hawaii/Alaska too, and I don't think it has anything to do with religion or Jesus.
