The math says she paid like $500 for this. She thinks she got a great deal. But she didn’t need it in the first place! She had a different one that used to be in her dining room. It wasn’t damaged in the “flood.” So why did she need to spend $500 for this new one? Because she has a shopping problem that she would never admit.

That's always been my assumption. When I was still fundy I dated someone who, like me, was in church leadership. Once we started dating I would be so anxious about bringing ministry-related things up to him in public because of my anxiety surrounding things like "how will this look due to us dating? Will it seem like I'm challenging his authority?" It was quite the mindf*! So yes, I'd be shocked if Anna actually did anything with any emails she received. 

We are currently planning a very large renovation to our home. And the very first thing I did was hire a designer. I love interior design, and have a pretty good eye, but this is an expensive project and one I only want to do once. We are trying very hard to be conscious of our environmental impact and I don’t want to waste any money buying something that won’t work well in the house or that won’t last. So an expert was called in, and he is making the process so enjoyable. I still have input and get to make decisions, but I can be confident that it will look incredible and timeless in the end and that I won’t need to worry about buying anything over again. Abbie’s mindless consumerism is the thing that irritates me the most. The planet is drowning in stuff, and she isn’t helping.

I've been off of this board for a year, and am still playing catch up with a few threads. I'm not remotely surprised about Martha, other than the fact it took 10 years to come to a head. Frankly, I suspect that she won't be the only Morton clocking a divorce in the years to come. Tayte and Martha were an awkward pairing at best. I don't think it was arranged in the same sense as some of the S'Morton unions seemed to be, but Martha was in such a weird place in the family timeline. Age-wise, she was in the unfortunate position of being born between the oldest Morton sibs who had VERY early marriages in the thick of their fundy connections (except Addie), and the younger sibs who seemed to have far more choice, and enjoyed the illusion of secular entertainment/socialization outside of the home church. She didn't have an obvious partner waiting for her (presumably, none of the Campana boys were interested), and she apparently wasn't allowed to drift around the estate as an adjunct babysitter/dog breeder/entrepreneur like Addie was before her marriage (also to a much younger man). 

I suspect Martha will end up married off again, probably to a significantly older man. Especially if the elder Mortons make their move to Paraguay permanent. 

I agree there will be another Morton divorce in the next few years. I think it will probably be one of the younger boys. Just don’t know who.
