Curious Creatures go Camping

I finished this one last week and it took me ages to get done as my hands have been really sore the last wee while. I used Winsor and Newton ProMarkers for all of it. @Playagirl done this picture a while ago as well, here is the link to the blog entry http://www.freejinger.org/blogs/entry/1430-curious-camping/.  I enjoy seeing how others do the same page and how different or similar they all are.

This is one of those pages I've looked at and almost done several times!  Especially like the way you did the camper and the big mechanical pig in the foreground.  Colorful and fun...great job!   :my_shy:

Thanks @Tikobaby, the mechanical pig is my favourite part of the picture :marker: Hope you get round to doing this picture soon, would love to see your take on it!

I'm definitely going to do it at some point. Am working on one from Pampered Pets right now, but it's slow going due to being tired at night from working.

Looking forward to seeing your next page from Pampered Pets, I have started another from the Curious Creature book but it is slow going between my hands still being sore and losing my colouring mojo a bit :( Hope to get back into it soon. Hope you get some time off soon to refresh your batteries :)

Great job. I'm working on that same page right now, though I just started so I'm sure it will take me a while before I'm ready to post it. Love your version!!

I like your version much better than mine, @caszandra. I also like your markers better than mine, the colours are much nicer. I haven't been colouring at all lately; don't really know why, just not feeling like it. Hopefully I'll feel like it soon cuz my pre-ordered Creative Haven's Hello Cuba book was just delivered a few days ago.

Thanks @Playagirl, I know how hard we are on ourselves when we feel like we haven't done a good job but you should be really pleased as your picture was really good as well. I have also not be colouring as much lately, seem to have lost my colouring mojo a bit, fingers crossed we get back into it soon, can't wait to see some pictures from your new book :marker:

Adorable! Is that orchid I spy?  I love the little purple bird.  I like to see how other people do the same page as well.  Since a bunch of us have the same books now, maybe it's time for another color off?

Why would you be beaten to death for saying that? I think it's pretty well known that his speech was at a trad Catholic school, which means it likely is not standard Catholic teaching.

Apparently any criticism of the Catholic Church is "being beaten to death". No one can have their own experiences with the Church. No one can have negative experiences that aren't dogma. Trying to talk about problems with church teachings that aren't dogma is unfair.

The numerous sex abuse scandals aren't Dogma either, but they are negative experiences people have had with the church. I guess it's not fair to complain, since it's not Dogma to cover up sex abuse. It's also something that seems to happen over and over again within the Church.

I don’t think they are.  But they nicely pointed out that this shit isn’t Catholic teaching and certainly not Dogma as half the internet is telling the world it is.

Dogma has a very specific meaning in Catholicism. It’s reserved for the stuff in the creed and other core Christian teachings based on scripture and teachings of the church fathers. Cultural norms like who works or doesn’t are not matters of dogma

No one said it was Dogma that I've seen. But it is consistent with a lot of people's experiences of what being Catholic is like. He certainly said some things like his tirade about IVF, which fit in with Catholic teachings. The Catholic Church puts a lot of emphasis on things like reproductive rights, which he touched on in his speech, and have an impact on women's ability to have careers outside the home.

With all due respect to the nuns, that's not the spirit of the college. I read several comments from people who had been there and it aligns with most of what Butker said.

The original poster on ex-Catholic Reddit said that the commencement opened with the President of the College saying:

I don't know if the Nuns aren't currently involved, if their order is dying out, etc., but they don't seem to be that involved if they're unhappy with his remarks.

I don’t think they are.  But they nicely pointed out that this shit isn’t Catholic teaching and certainly not Dogma as half the internet is telling the world it is.
