I just picked this book up yesterday. I love it! I decided to try and figure out how to use these alcohol markers and experimented a bit with blending. It's a bit of a learning curve for me. While I like this picture better before I tried the blending I am delighted with the way they blended and see their potential!

See, here's another book that lots of you do so well and I just stare at the pages and freeze. There definitely is a learning curve with the markers but it's not a long one, happily.  For me, blending with pencils is much easier than with markers. Anyway, I think your clouds and octopii are my favourite things but it's all really cute!!

*tilts head in puzzlement* Is that a metal whale at the bottom with a person inside?

This is a curious picture to me!

And I like the splotchy quality of the water you made. Quite nice! :)

Me too, kind of. I jumped right into the first picture when I got the book, but I'm still stuck on that one and I don't like the way it looks so far very much. @Tikobaby, in particular, is doing such a spectacular job with this book that I'm a little intimidated. ;) I want to be as awesome a colorist as Tikobaby when I grow up!

Back to @Grimalkin: I think you did a great job. I especially love the pink whales and the sun!

Very cool @Grimalkin, I love how the clouds and water look. I haven't tried blending with markers yet but looking at your pic makes me want to try.

Lovely!  Dumb question about your markers - how are you making them blend?  My apologies if you've already mentioned this in an earlier post.

You start with 3 shades of the same color and start with the lightest, then the part you want shaded you fill in with the medium shade, and put the darkest in the corners. Then go back with the lightest and blend it. I learned from you tube videos. I used alcohol based markers, I don't know how it would work with something like crayola.

I am pretty happy with my Spectrum Noir markers. Other markers may be better, but they are much more affordable and work well.

Hahaha, thanks!  I thought you were using some kind of marker blender thing, I didn't realize it was quite so easy!

Another book I love.  Great job on this one, too.   I have discovered the world of youtube videos recently and there are some really great ones for coloring.   I find blending the markers is MUCH easier after watching some of them.  I highly recommend Peta Hewitt if you are going to dive into that rabbit hole.  There are some other great channels, but Peta is my go to when I'm looking for something.

They also have a ton of coloring book walk throughs which I find so useful because they show the entire book and you can really see whether you will like the majority of the designs or not.  Unfortunately, this new habit has made my wishlist grow exponentially ;)
