Cupcakes, flowers and butterflies

This is the first page I have finished,  not sure how I feel about it.  Is anyone else really critical of their colouring when they finish?  There are a few bits in it that I love like my red and yellow butterfly and my red rose.  I used stabilo fineliners, sharpies and a cheapo set of gel pens from asda.

I certainly am critical of my finished pictures. I'm not even sure if that's the correct term. I think it's just harder to see it as others do when you've been so entrenched in it.  I think we will probably enjoy them more after some time has passed.

Anyway, you have no reason to be critical of this. I agree about the rose and gorgeous butterfly but, honestly, the whole page is very vivid and happy looking. I think you've done a really great job choosing your colours. Great first page!!

I am hyper critical of my owns stuff.  I see choices I made that I don't like.  Or 'error' - that nobody notices but me.

I like it.  The picture is fun.

I love this one.  It's a page of happiness.  I really love both butterflies and the green/yellow flower on the right.  The whole page is really pretty though.

We are always our own harshest critics and will see things that others do not.  I agree that opinions sometimes change after you have been done with the page for a while.

Thanks @Curious,  I like my green and yellow flower too.  Hopefully I can look back at the page in the next few days and see more that I really like as well.

I'm feeling very BEC today but why are they posing so awkwardly??

Knee bending for group photos seems to be a "thing" these days, especially among younger females.  I see it in every issue of my local, twice weekly news rag.

So what exactly is the fundraiser for?

Moving costs? Flight tickets? A car / van to move with? The gas money? A deposit? New furniture? Decorating costs? All of the above?

I would love to move for a variety of reasons but am staying put because of all associated costs currently being out of my reach. Moving and starting again costs money. Maybe I should try this route…..I wonder how much I would get?

Clearly the studying I’m doing on top of my full time job right now to hopefully bring a better financial outcome in the long-term is the suckers way forward.

I was really sympathetic to their situation once upon a time and donated……but there’s part of me that now thinks, you’re just not even trying to try to improve any aspect of your life, not even the teeniest bit. I get the deal with mental health as I have had my own shit, like most of us, and seeing the way out can often and  sometimes feels impossible. But there is also a point…..a point where you have to just, I don’t know…..reach out, take the tiniest step, especially now so many jobs involve working from home so you won’t have to deal with people or getting up and out.

How much longer are they realistically going to be able to grift like this, considering donations are already dropping which they admit?

My god I just looked at it, they want $5550 dollars!

The anti-balloon people who rage on people’s funeral posts are the absolute worst category of people.

The funeral looked very sweet. You could tell she was very much wanted and that Jill was getting a lot of support.

Ballon releases make me rage. I wisely and respectfully keep my mouth shut and fingers off the keyboards. Because, you know, time and place….
occasionally in conversations in groups I will raise the topic and mention how bad it is for the environment and would never want it or do it. I figure if I influence one person to not do it and they influence one person not to do it etc There can be change.
planting the seed of change in someone’s mind allowing them to remember (in a time of grief when they are searching for a suitable, achievable, inexpensive and lovely way to remember a loved one) that maybe a ballon release is not the best idea is about the best I can hope for.

I suspect it was a combination of initially wanting to be quiverful, discovering she "wasn't maternal" and then instead of changing her mind like most people she doubled down so she could be the Most Perfect Mother/Martyr For Jesus.

I wanted to have 3 children, for various reasons that wasn't possible. It still annoys me that mothers like Abbie and Jill are so bloody awful at it, when so many women struggle with fertility.

As for Shaun... it's hard to tell. I don't think he is engaged by small children, but once they are older he interacts more with them. I'm still surprised his work travel hasn't involved a vasectomy.

Have children at this age even the motor skills to do that?

Seriously that was my thought too. It's one thing if kids that age (1) are helping (or rather "helping") but between motor skills and language development they should only be helping, not doing it all themselves. The way she's phrased it is she's teaching her how to run a house, at an age where most are learning to dress themselves. I really hope it is poor phrasing. Out of curiosity I looked up the Montessori chore list (in spoiler)

I'm amused at the kitchen list - at 18 months my child still couldn't sit up from lying down, so my idea of appropriate chores (and development!) for that age is way off.
