From Enchanted Forest, using Prismacolor Scholar pencils.  I went with a bright and funky color scheme.IMG_9109.thumb.jpg.62b91e7cedb8efe635e1d

Love it!  I really like the way you did the tree limb with the leaves being several different colors.  I never think of stuff like that.  I also love that bright pink.

*shakes fist* Damn you!  Now I'm going to need to pick up the prismacolor scholar set I passed over at Michael's.

Really like your vivid color scheme, especially that light aqua color on the owl's head. Nice!  :my_shy:

Aw thank you! Definitely pick up the set, I would love to see your work using it!

I love that picture! Now I am conflicted between markers or those pencils. The colors are great!

I like the pencils, but so far I haven't ventured into marker territory so I can't compare the two.  You don't have to press down too hard with the prismacolors, so that's nice.  It does get annoying having to sharpen them, though.

Yes, it does!!!  I love them, but I cannot get a sharp point to save my life!

LOL same! Well, it's hit or miss.  I think I might have developed a strategy... but then sometimes even that doesn't work.  BTW I bought the Prismacolor scholar pencil sharpener, because obviously, but it's not like my results have been spectacular or anything. When I do get a nice, sharp point, I feel so happy!

I read a fricking tutorial on sharpening, I was so frustrated!  It told me to hold the sharpener in my left hand and turn the pencil, not the sharpener, with my right. I do that faithfully. Doesn't make any difference!!!1!1!

No, it didn't!! It's the exact opposite of what I just wrote!  (Pencil in left hand, turn sharpener with right!). Time for beddynights, methinks.

Hmm.. then I guess I'm doing it wrong.  I do the first thing you said, twist the pencil, not the sharpener (which is the wrong way?).  Did they say why to do it the other way?

I bought an electronic pencil sharpener (bostick I think.  under $20 at walmart) and it was the best money spent.   It sharpens the prismacolors to a needle fine point.  It has an automatic stop point so you don't "over sharpen" and waste your pencils.

All the books I have on colored pencil work recommend an electronic sharpener and after not being able to get sufficient points with a manual sharpener, I broke down and got one.

The books recommend you run a graphite pencil through the electronic sharpener every once in a while to get rid of waxy build up from colored pencils, if anyone decides to try the electronic ones.

Another recommendation from the books I have is a pencil extender.   You put the pencil in there when it's too short to hold and it gives you more life to your pencils, so less waste/expense.   I got a pack of 3 extenders for under $10 on amazon.   I haven't had to use them yet, though.

As a colored pencil fan thanks for the TheRealKateeSackhof sharpener advice.

I have this one and I'm very happy with it.  It has two options - one makes the tip very sharp.  The instructions said to turn the sharpener and not the pencil, but to be honest I gave that up after a bit.  One really good suggestion I found on the internet was that if your pencil tip is constantly breaking, put it in the microwave for 2-3 seconds. It totally works - the heat melts the wax.  Obviously, only do this if you have wax pencils!!

I think this is a spin off of open plan living - you can't just shut a door and hide the mess. The trend here that I find absolutely mindblowing is a bathroom per bedroom - who's cleaning them all??

Well, unless the people in the bedrooms are under about 10yo, the person who uses the toilet cleans the toilet!

(In quantity we have one toilet per bedroom, but it's more like one toilet per floor, plus one extra for the master bathroom. I clean the master bathroom and the main-floor multi use toilet. Each of my kids cleans 'their own' toilet.)

Art will never get a job because Art doesn't want a job. If someone handed them a job they'd still turn it down. They're not interested in work, only grifting. Art & Ryann seem like such a toxic pair!

Art isn't going to get a job.  If they did, it would make their application for SSI next to impossible to get approved some day.  Still no donations.  People are just tired of them asking for hundreds of dollars every month and less than a year ago many thousands.  Another request for many thousands just isn't going to get traction.  I think moving is probably a good thing but they will end up having to leave everything behind since nobody is willing to donate.  Art saying they would bake pies and use some of the initial funds for pie making stuff just shows how they thought they would have no problem raking in donations from people.  And it hasn't happened. They should feel grateful that their airfare and housing (whatever that means) are covered and try to figure out how to move their bed.  Or sell the bed on facebook marketplace for (hopefully) a good price and buy a new (used) one when they get to the secret new destination.

...it’s not money they had to earn so they don’t care. Every decision they make is very reactive as opposed to proactive. They rarely think of the consequences.

This seems to be their bottom line. And apparently enough people are seeing that that no one's willing to waste anymore money on them! Sadly I doubt anything will make them stop and think - unless it's someone in their anti-work community who they trust (which I highly doubt they have). If someone they know personally finally opened their eyes to how ridiculous the anti-work movement is, I could maybe see one of them accepting how untenable that belief system is and making changes from there. So realistically? They'll live their lives as (attempted) master grifters.

2 bathrooms works for us as a family of 4. But if we had more kids, I would probably want another toilet somewhere.
