What the Duggar daughters have been up to.

Quote
Ellie: Aside from working on the book, what have you and your sisters been up to?

Jill: "We just got back from the national ATI Conference, and Jinger left from the conference to go home. She had her first wedding photo shoot. She was really scared at first. She was like, 'I don't know how I'm going to do!' She's doing it with a friend of hers, so she and her friend, Megan, they went over, and she texted us pictures. She was like, 'I'm on my way, pray for me!' She was nervous about the lighting because the couple is getting married in a medieval chapel. She's been interested in photography and improving on her skills. She's taken photos for friends and stuff before, but this is her first paid job. So she is having a lot of fun."

"I have been busy studying. I'm an apprentice midwife right now, and I'll be starting my classes once I get back home again, and then delivering babies and all that. Jana has been going with me to births as a labor coach. Jessa has been working really hard on the book the last few weeks, getting a lot of the content organized. She's the organizer of the family, so she does a pretty good job. We've been busy, and traveling."

Jana and Jill have also been using their talents as they work with a girls' ministry.

UPDATE: Jinger's photo shoot went swimmingly.

Our readers are constantly asking if there are any Duggar courtships in the works. According to Jill, "Nobody is in a relationship right now or has anybody right now that they are courting our dating."

Good on Jinger; They seem to each found their ATI niche and get about but i pity Joy-She does not seem to belong anywhere because of her unfortunate birth order.

While it's nice to hear about a young Duggar woman being paid for work outside the home, I'm not sure how much training in photography Jinger has actually received and whether she can actually turn it into a career without some professional guidance and education.

Joy not belonging anywhere may actually work out for her in long run. Time will tell.

I'm curious to know if Jana's a "labor coach" because she genuinely wants to be or because Jills required to have a chaperone.

ETA: Labor coaches can be highly valuable birth attendants. I put it in quotes for this purpose because I can't imagine Jana trained with actual qualified doulas or the like.

Photography is THE thing for Fundies.Everyone from Sarah and Nathan Maxwell to Kim Coghlan is doing it either professionally or as a hobby but they really seem to put effort into it because photography is one of the only approved ways they can express creativity, individuality, express a POV and take pride in something they produced without feeling they are sinning, particularly for females.

As long as she doesn't share Smuggar's mad camera skillz, she should be okay doing weddings, no strapless dresses and with a proper chaperone, of course.

because the couple is getting married in a medieval chapel.

a medieval chapel? In the US? I'm intrigued.

I haven't seen a lot of Jinger's photos but I have noticed (1) she has Smugger's talent for taking photos on a 45 degree angle (2), she doesn't always consider framing or backgrounds so I have seen the top of peoples heads cropped off in some and unfortunate backgrounds in others and (3) she doesn't consider natural lighting and will just take a photograph from where she stands rather than moving around the object/person to get the best light possible. you really shouldn't see the photographer's shadow in a photo. This isn't necessarily snark as a lot of adults muck these things up. (I took photography classes at high school. It doesn't mean I'm any good but I am very critical of others.) I just really hope she improves with practice and/or she gets advice from a professional photographer. I love seeing her NOT raising her mothers children!

*It is very, very, very sad that I have spent enough time on the internet to be able to comment on her photography skills.

I'm sure it's a reproduction. However, there is a real castle being built in Lead Hill, and it's being built using authentic tools and techniques. I tried to find if they had a chapel but construction has stopped due to lack of funds.

I am not sure that the duggars know what medieval is. They might think it means old.

 Yea, Medieval= Stained glass and stone walls, right?

I agree she needs practice and advice. My dream for Jinger is to go off to a photography school. Oh wait, that probably will never happen.

Wow! Who knew my log cabin was actually medievel? It has a stone foundation and a stained-glass window ;)

Nevermind that it was built in 1991 lol

"Oh, that is SO lame. Every hot girl who can aim a camera thinks she's a photographer. Oooh, you took a black and white picture of a lawn chair and its shadow and developed it at Save-On; you must be brooding and deep."

Gotta love Stewie from Family Guy. This quote sums up Jinger and Miss Racquel's photo skills for me.

Will she actually be paid real wages or just a token "love offering"......? Who, outside their group, would hire a midwife with her credentials?

Wedding photographer. Yawn. That's about the only creative thing young ATI-ers can do and yet they all produce photos that look alike.........

In spite of those little snarks, I'm glad they have something of a personal life and I'm actually glad they AREN'T courting--cuts down on future childbearing at least. I do wish John was though he just seems like the most decent of them all.

I suppose they could also disassemble a European chapel and rebuild it on US soil. Much of the Cloisters in NYC was done that way.

Well at least the next time Smugglar and the wife have the next one they will not have to pay for a midwife, they will have one in the family. With her educational background, I don't see how she will be able to pass the written exam. She does not seem the brightness bulb on the string.

"...and then delivering babies and all that."

...and all that? Seriously? I imagine her twirling her hair and chumping on gum as she says it.

I also think that she does not understand that being a midwife, will cut into her travel time. To her it seems that it is nice hobby.

Yeah, Jill always comes off as such an airhead. But I've always wondered (hoped, actually) that it's somewhat an act on her part to seem more innocent/sweet as per the SAHD model.

I've noticed the same thing (annoying lisp and lots of "umm"s, "yeah"s, etc.) in Joy-Anna and it drives me BANANAS cause I had such high hopes for her as the tomboy of the family.

I danced through my living room feeling awesome. From time to time I do this. Maybe wine is involved. Good music is definitely involved. It is awesome. I recommend it to you. With or without wine.

After a few months of trying to decide what kind of new computer to get and my brother telling me a Mac would be the best decision I could ever make and my sister telling me that would be the worst and I ought to stick to Windows.... I now have a used Mac. I am trying to get used to it. Not easy, but the Magnifying program is a lot better than the Windows one (that was the ultimate reason for my decision) and FJ works a lot better than on my 10-year old Laptop, too!!

Y'all, holter monitors suck. And naturally the palpitations that caused this test to be ordered are remarkably absent today.
I'm off to go work out in the hopes that triggers it. T minus 10 hours till I get this thing off.

I frigging hate the toilets at this worksite. Specifically the door locks. Stupid little knoblet that isn't clear if it is locked or not. Door opens right off the main hallway and the toilet is just far enough from the door that I can't just hold the door shut in case I've got the lock wrong. I mean really people, how hard is it to design this? I just want to pee in private with no anxiety. Apparently that is too much to ask for.

First thing I'm doing when I get to the hereafter is finding the ancestors who moved to the US in the first place and asking them what the fuck they were thinking moving here in the first place.  Along with giving them an epic the reason you suck speech hopefully in the presence of God and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself to all of them for condemning their descendants to living in a shithole.

Do any of you play Dyson Sphere Program?   For those who don't know what it is I'd suggest Googling it, because there's no way I could do it justice.
There's always just one more thing to do before I turn off.  Blink!  And it's 2 hours later.
