Josh is on the business license. Jim/Jchelle/the trust owns the real estate. Jim has title on most of the vehicles that are actually on the lot.

Edited to add: It may have changed, that was the status as of the time he moved to the property.

I wonder who buys cars from him

That's the thing, I don't think anyone does, at least not without incentive (TLC bribe money?), or being a part of their freaky cult lifestyle. He's admitted on the show that his business wasn't doing well.

It is hard to tell if he sells cars because his inventory on his website doesn't work right more then 50% of the time. I do think trusted fundies and fans buy from him. I always find it weird when people post on his instagram that they want to buy a car from him just because it is him selling the car.

If he wasn't such a douche on the social networking sites (yes, Josh, people read that stuff and it affects their decision to buy stuff from you) and didn't plaster his cars with bible verses (thus alienating anyone who might not be Christian or just dislikes a holier than thou attitude), he might find his car lot doing better. For someone who has decided to be a salesman for a living, he has no clue how to do it correctly. His goal should be to sell cars. Therefore, he should make his dealership attractive to as many people as possible. He can't seem to grasp that concept. He's also about the laziest person on tv. You cannot sleep in when you own your own business. It's not like working for someone else, where you can just go in, do the job for 8 hours, and go home. It takes a lot more effort. And you most definitely cannot go traipsing around the world. If you run a business, you need to be at the business. Not in England, not in Israel, not in El Salvador. It's no wonder the business isn't doing well. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. If he's not willing to work hard and learn to be a good salesman, then the failure of his business is his own fault.

I have to put my .10 cents in about the "Christian owned business" shit. My dad, despite my warnings, went full-bore into this and the only one who came out trustworthy was (ironically) his accountant. The "Christian" fuckwad lawyer who handed out business cards at church made 6 figures off the estate. For the actual work he did, at his rate, about $50k would have been commensurate.

Then there was the "Christian Coffeeshop." My dad was an architect, so guess whose name was on the plans to renovate an old bar? My parents had a minority share in the project, but my retired dad didn't expect the people who were going to front the place to change the plans 10 times in 3 years. For free. The big investors were not members of their church.

One day, dad and I were driving around and the mellowest guy in the world just blew up about the project; he was OUT. The place is open, although I don't know its vibe, but my dad finally realized that the primary investors totally took advantage of his skills. Thank goodness dad knows the legal aspects of things and when he pulled out, threatened lawsuits if they used his plans.

You fuck with my dad (RIP) you fuck with me. The lawyer got it when it took 3 years to settle a pretty simple estate.

Lesson: Integrity matter, not overt religion.

Irony: Before Smuggar got the new space, his place was called something like "Integrity Motors." He has a ton of pics wearing this particular branded polo.

Conclusion: I think we all know it. People who live on blind faith don't. My dad learned not to trust "Christians" the hard way and I was ONE FUCKING DAY away from getting power of attorney from the shyster lawyer, but the lawyer showed up when I met with dad and even though I had a written note (in very shaky handwriting) that he wanted me to be a co-executor (and a sister who lived out of state, so she wasn't readily accessible for meetings, other than email), he didn't date the thing and the next day he went into renal failure and while his signature was there, it wasn't dated. Not legal and FWIW, I forged better signatures in high school and his signature was as neat and clean as it gets.

I just appreciate that he got it in the end and knew I would (and almost sued) the "Christian" lawyer who solicited his church for business.

Yeah, I think most of his cars that sell go to fans. I've said before, he's charging too much for cars of those ages with such high miles, vehicles not intended to last that long, but that are cheap enough that a buyer will hopefully pay it off before the car dies forever. On several cars he says to call for mileage. That means "so high no one would look twice at this vehicle unless we can get them to like it a lot based on other stuff first."
