Large Families on MTV

The first family, the one with Mary, is definitely crazy. I wonder how many fundie households look like this. I'm sure they would never show that side because it's not exactly a great advertisement for Quiverfull. However, I think these are more typical of super-sized families than the ideal that we are shown on the Duggars' show and the mommy blogs.

I watch that when it first aired on MTV. I agree Mary's family seemed crazy and unorganized. Camille's family seemed to collaborate well. Camille seemed to have a lot of responsbility but the mother and siblings also did their best in keeping the family going.

Camille's family seems to the be the type of people that would be more likable than the Duggars or some of the fundie famlies that have blogs.

The most telling (and saddest) statement - "Who would do this if I didn't?"

I'm sure that's exactly how the Duggar girls feel as well. Their basic humanity drives them to compensate for their parents' narcissism and short-sighted focus on procreation at the expense of others. But how long can you sacrifice yourself before depression and resentment begin to take over?
