So Kelly Bates confirmed on the family blog that their show will air mid-August. The Duggar family blog also confirmed the Duggars will return in August. Let the games begin!

I hope they both go down in flames.

I kind of wished the Bates show premiered a bit earlier that would it piss off Michelle.

Why would TLC have shows about two big, white, Christian families? Is the viewing demographic that large?

For real. I wondered that myself.

I saw some show featuring the Bates the other night when I was flipping channels and I have to say that they are a lot less palatable than the Duggars. Oh, disaster.

Too bad it can't be in a Survivor style throwdown- with the Bates and Duggars competing against each other for necessities like food, shelter and Jimboob's hair gel. I'd like to see who gets voted off the island first.

I'm curious myself why TLC is having both shows air at the same time. I'm curious if they will air back to back on the same night or if they will each have their own separate nights? Either way it does seem overkill having basically the same show on at the same time. Nightmare indeed!

 I'd watch that.

I was just thinking last night how I would have loved to have seen the Bates, Duggars and some other fundy royalty do a Pioneer House special on PBS

I'd watch that, too. It sounds a lot better than what's on the current season of Survivor, which my family is avidly watching while I find other things to do.

Oh God, please no! Could you imagine the smugness of it? Both of these families probably consider themselves just the right people for a pioneering adventure! Why, they already know how to build houses, (not) take care of horses and cook on a budget! I doubt if I'd be able to make it through to prayers and hymns around the campfire.

I'd say we'd have to throw Douggie and his crew of manly men into that mix.

I was addicted to that show. I may just do a marathon tonight.

If it was that I'd watch it on tv AND buy the dvd!!

I think TLC is doing this to drive up viewership for the Duggars. It's going to result in lots of people watching both to draw comparisons and criticize.

Who do we write to at TLC to make this happen?

I bet Kelly will be pregnant with #20 by the time the show airs. Then if she has a healthy pregnancy and birth it will be bye-bye Duggars.

Eeek! For some reason, I just pictured Hunger Games- Duggars vs. Bates.

Pioneer House: Quiverfull Edition would ROCK! All those smug, self-satisifed schmucks who think they want to live back in the "purer," "simpler" days! What a rude awakening! I'd pay money to see that!

Could you imagine the Duggars without their iPhones

19 Kids and One Outhouse. I can only imagine the hilarity that would ensue.

I think it would be funny to see what happens to the girls in corsets/stays and God forbid REAL shoes! I for one would watch quiverful goes old school anyday.

Gosh this would be too much fun. The 'men' would need to build the house. And what would JB do about having easy access to Jchelle? And no calendar to chart the girls cycles, they'd have to make notches on a log. I sincerely would pay to see this.

Can you just see Smuggar herding cattle or having to do any sort of manual labor with that bloated, pasty ass body? He'd be dead inside of a week from a heart attack.

I think the only ones who would fare well are the J'Slaves; I think they have enough recipes from scratch in their repertoire to make it, even if they have to cook 24/7 to feed them all. However, I've seen 19th century recipes and there's a lot of variance since just about every food staple has changed in some way. The poor Howlers. There will be no time for howling as they plow, harvest and mill their grains.

The other "back in the day" series I'd love to throw the Duggars in would be the BBC's take on WWII. Blackouts and bomb shelters, baby! The Supersizers Go... did an awesome re-enactment of the era, complete with the food rationing and the shit they were forced to eat. I'd PAY to see the Duggars live like that. But they have to live in London and can't send their kids to the country for the duration of the War. They have to suck it up like King George VI and his family, including good ole QE2.

I'd suggest a two-seater, at the least.
