but sometimes it is a way to deal with eating disorder. A friend of mine is in this situation and we shared an apartment at some point: she was eating enough calories, was cooking for all meals, and ate a diversity of food. Being vegan just meant she had control of what she was eating, a control that still meant she was eating enough calories and getting a diversity of produce. Sometimes it's just how that particular person deals with their eating disorder.

That's not "dealing". As long as you're still scared of certain foods, or if you believe certain foods are "off limits" all the time (obviously, allergies are the exception to this rule), you are still eating disordered. Until you deal with the thoughts behind your fear, you aren't doing yourself any favors by pretending everything is kosher (pun kind of intended).

For the record: Orthorexia is an eating disorder where you are obsessed with eating the "right" foods or only "healthy" foods. It can lead to malnutrition when you're eating, say, only brown rice, lentils and chickpeas. Brownbrownbrown. Eat the rainbow, Lina!

I cannot stand how she completely lies about certain things. For example, she never had to ask her parents' permission to email/talk/date TT, yet she says here:

"Then, he asked if we could begin writing letters for the purpose of getting to know each other better. It was then that I asked for my parents’ blessing and permission. They agreed.

To make a long story short, we exchanged a few letters, and continued to e-mail. During that time, we were falling in love, and my parents could see that. Permission to begin talking on the phone was granted"

?

 'Being given permission' probably looked something like this: Lina- Can I make a phone call? Lina's parent- What the heck are you asking us for? You're eighteen years old, girl. You know where the phone is.

I wonder if she believes her own spin.

Yeah orthorexia isn't a medically recognized term but it describes people who become so obsessed with eating a limited diet in the name of health that they become malnourished or sick.

Lina has said previously that the first time she went vegan/raw she got so obsessed with it that she had to take a step away from it and that's how she got into fundieism/fake Judaism and then drifted back into veganism.

Exactly! When she had her nose pierced, some asked in comments what her parents thought about it. She said that now that she is eighteen, they expect her to do her own decisions and they don't have an opinion. So I am not buying this SAHD BS at all. They clearly want their daughters to have a good education and go to college. That involves socialising and leaving the house so yet another reason why I don't believe her story.

It's not in the DSM, but it's a medically recognized term. Look at any eating disorder treatment center's site or eating disorder information site and it'll be right up there with AN and BN.

ETA: You don't have to become malnourished to be considered orthorexic. As long as your eating is abnormal and unhealthy (binge eating, chewing and spitting, orthorexia, etc.) you are considered EDNOS. This is why we don't get our information from WedMD or Wikipedia.

honestly apart from thi spree of they don't have money for food, I don't think she has given any proof that she is eating an unhealthy diet.

I am no eating disorder specialist, I only know what my friend told me and I know she eats a balanced and diversified diet. What Lina has posted before her no money policy was diversified and healthy.
