I bet TLC will make this a reality show

20/20 is going to air a family that has 7 little people. The parents and 5 kids that are all little. They are calling it the Seven Dwarfs. I swear TLC would love this family. Although they seem to be going the 19 family route.

I think the little people angle has been overplayed. That's been done for years. I hope that family won't want to go for it. They seem to really want their kids to have normal childhoods, and have even refused to get custom anything because they say the world isn't built for them and it's important to learn how to exist in it without help. A TV show would change a lot of things for them.

I believe the mother of the family and the family in general, refers to themselves that way. It's not a label or phrase that's been thrown on them by the media. I wouldn't be surprised if it were made into one. I kind of hate that little people seem to be a trend. I'm not a little person but I just find it a bit...unseemly.

Is this the family that was on Anderson? They seemed really down to earth, I couldn't see them wanting a show.

I think that some of the families want the public to stop viewing them as an oddity. Their goal is probably to educate the public. Whether or not such shows accomplish their aims, I don't know.

I watched a few episodes of Little People, Big World and thought the family was too normal for my tastes.

If they aren't secretly fundie or fundie-lite TLC won't want them.

I liked the fact that the media had brought attention to little people and gave them a voice. I learned a lot and how they wish to be treated and what to be called. Example is midget, that I found is a huge no-no and removed the word from vocab when refering to anything about people.

The only little person show now worth watching is the one with Jen, the awesome doctor and her husband. They are a truly likable couple, both having careers and are enjoyable to watch and learn from. I wish them both all the best.

This new family though I know nothing about but if they have children they really should stay off of TV to raise their children. I am not a fan of children losing their childhoods because of having to grow up in front of cameras. The only cameras they should be in front of are the ones held at games, events and birthdays. Children have to have privacy.

I think I've read about this family before. I kind of remember there being an episode of Oprah that focused on a family that was all LP. I wouldn't be surprised if they have received or will get reality show offers. There was a rumor a few years back that TLC was planning to replace the Roloffs with the Foos family from California. The Foos are a family of 5 LP's. They have two biological sons and an adopted daughter from Russia. Discovery/TLC did two documentaries on the Foos family. From the two documentaries, they seemed pretty likable. But I think the reason they might have turned down a reality show offer is because the daughter suffers from a form of autism and she has social issues.

Wow...that's horrible.

It's what they call themselves. There are seven of them in the family, and they're the largest family of littles, and so they started the "Seven Dwarves" thing. If it's horrible to refer to them in the way they like to be, oh well. Barbara Walters wasn't sure what to use, but decided to use their preferred term instead of the "politically correct" "little people."

It's like disabled versus differently abled versus person with disability, or autistic person versus person with autism. Some people find one to be offensive but not the other. Do you impose your own idea of what's PC onto the person it applies to, or do you set aside your own ideas to use what that person prefers? Some people see their disabilities as a part of who they are and don't like the person-first way that separated the person from the disability, and some prefer the separation. Some people like midget or dwarf, some like little person, one guy I know prefers person with dwarfism. Just use what the person prefers, and it's not horrible.

I suppose it would be kind of ok. It might put some prejudices to bed and show some normal lp, not just mini me and oompa loompas.. Btw I didn't think ' dwarf' would be so acceptable.

Guess I should update again? Frieda (Kiki, we renamed her) is here since the end of February 2021. She came with a bunch of problems, but is the best dog ever and is doing better every day. But we do now know how a dog with ptsd looks like. For real, not joking. If she is triggered during the day, she wakes up screaming at night. Not like dogs dream, but literally screaming. Other than that she went with us on countless trips, loves hiking and even cable cars. She is one heck of a fearless dog in situations who do not remind her of her old life.
My Grandpa passed away last May and I'm still grieving a lot. After sharing a house with my grandparents for over 30 years it is just horrible to lose one of them. Even though it was his decision and he got to go like he wanted. At home, in his bed during the night without doctors. He would have need more care and he did not want more care. So after turning 90 he decided to let go and became weaker and weaker.
In other news my dad stops working for good on April 1st. Retirement time. Keep my Mum and myself in your prayers. We really do not want him at home all the time. Haha!

I don't always make good decisions for myself due to severe depression but I did today actively decide not to do something that might have been detrimental for me and am very proud of myself.

Well, this is weird. At some point, recently, I broke my wrist. I had to get a Dexa-scan today (put it off for years) and along with some bone loss, damn I had it a few minutes ago… the results said, “Fracture risk is moderate, and the patient has a significant wrist fracture. Treatment is advised.”  my left wrist aches a little but not near as much as my back, feet, knees or fingers, damn RA. I have no idea how it happened. I haven’t fallen in 2 years, haven’t banged or bumped…  the dr will call tomorrow and we’ll get  this straightened out.
