Dementia?

Maybe he's been talking to the Torah Keepers about them being persecuted? :D

Posted

Huh??

I think mormonjesus has Patty boy pegged. Dementia has to be the explanation for the crazy shit he says.

Yes. I'm sure Pat Robertson understands antisemitism better than I do.

I'm sure he knows what it's like to be called a Christ-killer. I'm sure he knows what it's like to be spit on and called a kike. I'm sure he knows what it's like to be accused of drinking the blood of Palestinian babies. I'm sure he knows what it's like to be told that he has massive stores of gold somewhere. I'm sure he knows what it's like to be beaten up for being a Jew. I'm sure he knows what it's like to be disbelieved because others insist that he controls the media and thus can't be trusted.

Yes, Pat Robertson has surely experienced all of these things, while I and my family haven't. That's why he understands antisemitism and I don't.

He has been spewing this kind of crazy for years. What do you expect from a man who thinks 9/11 happened because of all the gays living it up in the good ol' US of A? It's not senility, he's always been that stupid and evil. As a side note, don't know what he has in gold, but the right reverend Robertson has quite a porfolio of conflict diamonds. What a Tool!

And I am sure that the esteeeemed Mr. Robertson is aware that persecution of Jews predated the birth of Jesus....

Yep. I've lived in the same general area as he does for most of my 54 years, and I can remember visiting a friend whose mother revered Pat Robertson and never missed an episode of the 700 Club. She would even go to the show sometimes and sit in the audience. Even back then the things that came out of his mouth were enough to make me scratch my head in disbelief. Age and his alleged 'senility' are just the two excuses he's hiding behind to be even more outrageous as the years go on.

Anyone else see the irony of someone who states, while likely believing he is not being antisemitic, that Jews are too stupid to understand antisemitism but he understands it fully?

He makes my brain hurt.

I have never understood this at all. Even the most fundamentalist Christian knows that Jesus dying was supposed to happen/a good thing and that the Romans did it. The Jewish leaders didn't have the authority to do it that's why they HAD to mess with Pilate and all that. (assuming the story was even true at all....bleh)

Even if the story was true and the Jewish leaders did try to get him killed.....they still did a good thing. Even if they did it doesn't mean Jewish people today had anything to do with it at all. Christ on a cracker! People are stupid!

Sorry, little rant there.

No, see, Pat, Here's the thing. What you just said? That is antisemitism.

You hate Jews. You tell lies about them. You are an antisemite.

You have all the privilege in the world. You are a white, male, Christian in a country where Christianity is the dominant religion. You have no idea what it's like to learn in kindergarten that 6,000,000 of your people were slaughtered for being who they were. You have no idea what it is like to have your place of worship protected by a blast wall to protect it from car bombs like the synagogue I attended in Argentina. You have no idea about the kind of chill that goes up your spine when you hear that a gunman in a foreign country attacked your people the way I felt when I heard about what happened in Toulouse.

And I am lucky. I am incredibly lucky. I have never been attacked or felt excluded because I'm a Jew.

That you think that antisemitism is some sort of cosmic struggle is a luxury and shows just how privileged you are. It's not. It is a reality that people have to face every day and has been one for millennia.

Dear Pat,

You should have stopped talking after "you cannot understand anti-semitism." Since you did not, I'll just tell you to STFU.

Really, we are not a bunch of small, stupid children. We have different views. That doesn't mean that we are objects of patronizing pity, or that some things are just too cosmic and complicated for our wittle brains.

Pat Robertson doesn't know anything about anything. The end.

Well said, pomology!!

I do know that Pat's said crazy shit for years, but maybe he's gotten worse lately. Even if Pat's got early stage dementia, it's still no excuse for the crap he spews.

I finally got tired of it and decided to "take it back", if you will, by purchasing a "Christ Killer" hoodie (complete with a slash that appears to drip blood) from a gentleman in Britain who created the design at the behest of a friend of mine who is a reverend in the Church of Satan.

I have said many times that I'm waiting for my letter of thanks from the Vatican!

Yup, I've heard "Jesus Killer", asked if my family is rich, and an ex-roommate of the hubs (not a friend-they all lived in a mutual friends house) upon hearing that he was dating a Jew actually said "WTF is wrong with you? Why can't date one of them!!!"....they haven't spoken since!

Pat's a moron and has been for years. I was once everything he hates (Jewish, divorced, single mom who was dating a woman!)....it was fun knowing that!

BTW, the last time I saw him driving around town (I think 4 or 5 years ago) he was driving a brand new Rolls Royce. Just saying.

Of all the things Hampton Roads could be known for... it's Pat Robertson and his special brand of crazy.

I've never met him, but my boyfriend once went on a field trip to his studio (for a video class, or something) and ran into him. Bf says he's an asshole in RL.

Yeah, we're real proud of that, believe me.

Not that Robertson cares about actual facts, but historically most anti-semitism seems to be linked to anger from groups that saw themselves as springing from Judaism and being the natural successors to it (or in their view, divine correction of it) to being told that the Jews preferred to stick with their original faith.

Anti-semitism is widespread in the world, but it is NOT completely universal. It's largely absent in countries like India, and there's also not that much of it in the Far East, since those are areas where the predominant faiths are not Abrahamic and don't start off with a basic premise that the Jews veered off course and then rejected the newer, more correct faith.

Why yes Pat, I'm sure I don't understand antisemitism. It's not as if I've ever had to explain to my daughter why cop cars sit outside the temple during services, or the street's shut down sometimes for High Holidays. I've never had to keep my mouth shut when a boss says to me "but everyone else realized Jesus is the messiah, why won't the Jews?!" I've never had someone stop talking the minute they saw the Hebrew necklace with my name on it.

I can't even anymore. Stop the world, I want off.

I hate these winds. They are absolutely HOWLING here in SoCal. Not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight because I'm so afraid we'll get sudden evacuation orders the way we did with the Woolsey fire in 2018. There's no way of knowing when and where a fire might crop up and once it does, there's no containing it in these winds. I'm praying for the safety of our brave firefighters. My heart is with everyone in the Pacific Palisades and in Eaton Canyon near Pasadena.

The world doesn't need more people. If people want to have children, that's fine, but there is no reason we have to keep having more people.

      Winter snack: crispy chickpeas
Preheat oven to 400 F. Drain and rinse a can of chickpeas, then toss in olive oil and whatever spices you like. I use fried chili crisp. Cook for 15 minutes, stir, another 15 minutes, stir, repeat until they're crispy and delicious. Good as a snack, on salads, etc.
I am sharing my super secret chili crisp source just because I love you guys:
