The "good" news about the Good Book is that it's still the No. 1 seller of all time, with an estimated 6 billion copies sold.

The not-so-good news though, according to a new survey by The American Bible Society, is that it's lost a bit of its prominence in affecting people's lives.

Have you seen the articles on The Voice Bible? The man who headed up the project claims this is a Bible for "people who don't read the Bible," mostly because they find the KJV language inaccessible.

Can't say I much care for it, but then I'm one of those folk who enjoy reading Shakespeare and Shelley and the like, so while I don't hold the KJV up as the only valid translation  , I do enjoy the way the phrasing rolls off your tongue. I also have a lovely version of the Hebrew Bible a friend gave me some years ago - don't know how many translation/versions there are (I assume nearly as many as for the Christian Bible), but it's an enjoyable read as well.
