Duggars respond to Rick Santorum

And who knows, if the other candidate who drew some of the conservative vote would have dropped out, Sen. Santorum might have clinched the Republican presidential nomination!

Apparently the Duggars have trouble adding.

I still wonder what Frothy really thinks of the Duggars. He always looked so uncomfortable in the photo-ops with them.

A hero? Really? So much in that letter is vomit worthy.

you beat me too it. sorry hero and frothy can't be used in the same sentence. His ego prompted him to run and his need to control everyone else. a true hero puts others before himself.

There is so little substance, and so much worth poking at in this letter as a whole, that I can not even begin to address individual points. So, instead, I will bounce off of a previous poster, to speculate about who is the "other candidate"? It's obviously not Romney, the leading candidate. Who is the rogue candidate who "stole" Santorum's votes?

I think he probably appreciated their support, but I don't think he would wanted to be friends with them for life. There were probably things about the Duggars than Santorum didn't like. He might have known about the Duggars having anti-Catholic views.

The duggars (yeah, I'm not going to bother making their name a proper noun anymore) do realize that US taxes are pretty freakin' low right now, especially when compared to history...right?

Reading this....press release. You could substitute Mittens in, and get the same effect. Especially the "real deal" and the "heart of gold" vomit. Frothy got people excited? More like "please oh please oh please.....Please Lord let people see how bat shit crazy he is!" Obama got people excited 4 years ago!

And who knows, if the other candidate who drew some of the conservative vote would have dropped out, Sen. Santorum might have clinched the Republican presidential nomination!

And who knows, if Germany had won WW2, we'd all be speaking German right now too!

1. What is with all the exclamation points? I notice that Josh does this as well. Seriously, an exclamation point is not necessary for every sentence!!!!!!!!! While we are on the subject of punctuation, I don't understand why he felt the need to open and close the letter with quotes.

2. Someone must have a serious hard-on for Santorum. I don't think it is possible to kiss his ass more. This reminds me of a teenage love letter. Oh, you are so smart, handsome and kind! Your shit doesn't stink!

3. I love that Jim Bob referenced gun rights and defending the sanctity of human rights in the same sentence.

4. Defending traditional marriage will result in strong families and a strong economy? Jim Bob needs to come down to West Hollywood. Clean streets, awesome restaurants, great shops and they have a thriving economy. Jim Bob would be shocked to know it's thriving only because of the gays. They know how to live well.

5. Jim Bob talks about living in a free choice society, yet the only choices his children have are whether or not they like pickles.

I really need to stop overthinking all things Duggar.

"And who knows, if the other candidate who drew some of the conservative vote would have dropped out, Sen. Santorum might have clinched the Republican presidential nomination!"

And if my grandmother had balls she'd be my grandfather.

"America is worth fighting for!"

I agree. However, I'm pretty sure that the America that I believe in and the America that Jim Bob believes in have absolutely nothing in common.

"He believes that to have a strong economy we must have strong families, which starts with defending traditional marriage."

Dude, you know that if teh gays are allowed to get married, they'll, like, spend money on getting married which boosts the economy, right?

"He has boldly talked about the fact that if Obamacare is implemented it will change our nation from a free choice society, to becoming a socialist nation."

Do you even know what socialism is? Or Obamacare for that matter? And what the fuck is a free choice society? Are you talking about the free market and capitalism? Seriously, you sound exactly like what you are: a non-educated person of below average intelligence and a massively overblown sense of self-importance.

"He speaks from his convictions based upon the Bible, the constitution and common sense."

Constitution should be capitalized, you douchebag.

"Now we are asking all the conservatives to band together, realizing that the future of our nation hinges on this critical election!"

So I'm guessing you're gonna support Mittens, now?

"It is important that we as Americans continue to fight for our freedoms and encourage our republican nominee when elected to stay true to promises made!"

Republican should also be capitalized because you are referring to the Republican Party and not the concept of republicanism, something that I'm sure you know precious little about.

"Rick would be the first to tell you, this race was not about him, but about advancing the conservative values that our nation was founded upon."

Do you know what conservative means or anything about American history at all? Even a little bit?

In conclusion, Jim Bob Duggar, it is people like you that make history majors (like me) into misanthropes and your family has less effect on the politics of this country than Texts from Hillary.

"He speaks from his convictions based upon the Bible, the constitution and common sense."

Can these three words be used in one sentence? How does the bible relate to the constitution? How is trying to run a country with a 2000 year old book common sense?

All those exclamation points made me think Michelle wrote it, so I read it to myself in her sweet voice. I can't make myself believe JimBob wrote that.

Doggie, you've got a valid point. Given that nobody else they supported, starting with Jim Bob, had any luck getting elected, the remaining Republican contenders should be leery of them. In fact, if I was Mitt, Newt or Ron, I would PAY the Duggars not to root for me in public.

'Rick articulated Ronald Reagan’s core platform about how important it is to fight for...less government regulations in our lives...'

So he wants less government regulation but he would quite like government to legislate on banning abortion, thereby denying 50% of the population control over their own bodies. This whole 'speech' is a bunch of contradictions (not to mention exclamations).

I doubt it. They dont seem to get a whole lot of history at the sotdrt. They also dont know that if minimum wage went up with inflation then it would be closer to $20/hour. They also dont understand the concept of a livable wage vs minimum wage. There are many people out there who are working their butts off at minimum wage jobs who still need government assistance. Their jobs dont pay enough to support a family of 4 even with both parents working. I know of a few walmart employees who are or have slept in their cars because they cant afford a place to live. Many are on a waiting list for government assistant housing. I admire them for their courage.

Its so frustrating to see the duggars talk about how bad government welfare is, while they still profess to be christian. This like so many of their beliefs is contrary to the bible. Welfare is there to help people who are in need. They have no business judging who is in need and who is not in need. The need for welfare is in part due to the fact that minimum wage is not a living wage. It should be increased to reflect the inflated value of the dollar.

He wanted the government to control the most private part of a womens body. If you dont want big government then stay the fu@% out of my uterus.

Every time I see the whole "Bible = good gov't for us" argument, I want to challenge the poster/speaker. Replace that noun with Torah/Qu'ran/Book of Shadows and get back to me when you feel comfortable with that idea! Or better yet, let's get back to the original religion of North America ... shamanism & nature-based theology. I can hear the cries of the "persuhcuted" now!

And, here's a bit common sense from 2000 years ago:

"In the early years of the Roman Empire there were no people in what would be a separate medical profession. It was believed that each head of the household knew enough about herbal cures and medicine to treat illnesses in his household. The Roman writer Pliny wrote:

"Unwashed wool supplies very many remedies…..it is applied….with honey to old sores. Wounds it heals if dipped in wine or vinegar….yolks of eggs….are taken for dysentery with the ash of their shells, poppy juice and wine. It is recommended to bathe the eyes with a decoction of the liver and to apply the marrow to those that are painful or swollen."

It may be too late. I think Smuggar's already jumped on the Newt bandwagon...

I don't understand why conservative Christians are so anti universal healthcare. It would guarantee that everyone, rich and poor, would get a decent level of healthcare, and I thought they were supposed to care about the less wealthy.

JB realizes that the ACA has already been implemented for a lot of things. The J'Kids are all eligible to remain on JB's insureance through age 26 because of it. I bet he likes that just fine. His micropreemie daughter might like the fact that her preexisting condition won't be used against here anymore, too. But yeah, Kenyan Muslim Socialism is wrong.

The need to respond to frothy's dropping out smacks of JB's ego. "People will want to know what we think!". Please!
