Planned Parenthood Turns Down $500,000

I never heard of him but he sure sounds like a nice guy (NOT) so it sounds like a good thing to turn him down.

Planned Parenthood Dallas allegedly refused a $500,000 donation from "I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell" author Tucker Max, who wanted to decrease his tax burden and decided to make a donation large enough for Planned Parenthood to name a clinic after him.

Max, who has written about women in a controversial and degrading manner, has in the past made extremely offensive comments about Planned Parenthood and the women who seek health care there on his Twitter account. He tweeted in July 2011 that "Planned Parenthood would be cooler if it was a giant flight of stairs, w/someone pushing girls down, like a water park slide."

Good for Planned Parenthood Dallas!

Tucker Max sounds like a misogynistic asshole.

Tucker max is...tucker max. He's the definition of an asshole

(there is a 'free' version of one of his books for kindles, if someone wants to create a desire to throw a kindle w/o lining Tucker's pocket)

He's very adept at playing the 'find a way to get publicity--and all publicity is good' game though. VERy.

Good on them. It's a noble thing to do, but I also don't blame them. Misogynistic as they are, I imagine even anti-choice people would get riled at the staircase tweet.

Tucker Max's publicist is an idiot:

Despite Max's reputation, Holiday says he can't believe Planned Parenthood refused the donation. "As a marketer, it was one of the stupidest and most depressing things I've ever seen," he writes. "This would have been a win-win-win-win situation. Cut a check, keep a clinic open. Rehabilitate some of Tucker’s PR ... So I tell this story not simply to call out Planned Parenthood -- though they deserve it and more. Tucker wasn't trying to make a fool of them with the donation I set up, but they acted like one anyway."

I hope both of their asshattery keeps coming back and biting them.

I've read "I Hope they Serve Beer in Hell" (it came from a library, so no money for Tucker Max). Some of the stories are drawn from my university. There are a few tiny glimmers of humor in it, but mostly just gross. And all the other things that people have said about Tucker Max.

Tucker Max reminds me of the prison in south Arkansas. Tucker Maximum Security, which is called Tucker Max around here.

He's got a very good imagination. The problem is, these fantastical things happened to him, but the video always got lost, or damaged, or stolen (or never existed cause it never happened :D ).

I think he's got a lot in common with the fundies, in that he lies lies lies through his teeth, and hopes that nobody will catch on.

I am so glad I am not the only one who makes that association!

I just made the link between this Tucker Max and the Tucker Max who posted on his blog about how he filmed he and his girlfriend having anal without her knowledge. What a complete asshole, no wonder PP didn't want his money.

I agree. Tucker Max is disgusting. He's also said some pretty gross things about Planned Parenthood on his Twitter, according to the blog Jezebel. I can understand why they would want nothing to do with him.

I love my Kindle far too much to deliberately download anything that will make me want to throw it, despite the fact that said item is a free book. There's a reason I call it "My Precioussss."

Go PP Dallas!

Tucker Max's publicist is an idiot:

It's not Planned Parenthood's job to help a walking rectal polyp like Tucker Max rehab his abysmal PR. Seriously, the guy is just vile (as is, predictably, his publicist), and PP Dallas made the absolute right decision in refusing his donation. Half a mil is a lot of money, but coming from a proud misogynist like Max? That's dirty, dirty money--and the stink will never wash off. It would have done tremendous harm to Planned Parenthood's reputation, and outraged its supporters--and not just in Dallas.

I don't have $500K, but I can still send them a donation to show my support and appreciation, and I think I will do just that.

Just had my anatomy scan today. Would it be awful if we revealed the sex of number 2 At silly girl's first birthday party? We have the envelope, I just don't know If we want to open it before or during her party or give it to my sister in law to bake the color into her cake? I don't want to feel like I'm taking attention off of her

Guess I should update again? Frieda (Kiki, we renamed her) is here since the end of February 2021. She came with a bunch of problems, but is the best dog ever and is doing better every day. But we do now know how a dog with ptsd looks like. For real, not joking. If she is triggered during the day, she wakes up screaming at night. Not like dogs dream, but literally screaming. Other than that she went with us on countless trips, loves hiking and even cable cars. She is one heck of a fearless dog in situations who do not remind her of her old life.
My Grandpa passed away last May and I'm still grieving a lot. After sharing a house with my grandparents for over 30 years it is just horrible to lose one of them. Even though it was his decision and he got to go like he wanted. At home, in his bed during the night without doctors. He would have need more care and he did not want more care. So after turning 90 he decided to let go and became weaker and weaker.
In other news my dad stops working for good on April 1st. Retirement time. Keep my Mum and myself in your prayers. We really do not want him at home all the time. Haha!

I don't always make good decisions for myself due to severe depression but I did today actively decide not to do something that might have been detrimental for me and am very proud of myself.

Well, this is weird. At some point, recently, I broke my wrist. I had to get a Dexa-scan today (put it off for years) and along with some bone loss, damn I had it a few minutes ago… the results said, “Fracture risk is moderate, and the patient has a significant wrist fracture. Treatment is advised.”  my left wrist aches a little but not near as much as my back, feet, knees or fingers, damn RA. I have no idea how it happened. I haven’t fallen in 2 years, haven’t banged or bumped…  the dr will call tomorrow and we’ll get  this straightened out.
