Just had to laugh when I read this:

I NEVER, NEVER spent such an evening!!! MY DEAREST DEAREST DEAR Albert ... his excessive love & affection gave me feelings of heavenly love & happiness I never could have hoped to have felt before! He clasped me in his arms, & we kissed each other again & again! His beauty, his sweetness & gentleness – really how can I ever be thankful enough to have such a Husband! ... to be called by names of tenderness, I have never yet heard used to me before – was bliss beyond belief! Oh! This was the happiest day of my life!
It's Queen Victoria, raised pretty much in isolation from the real world, tutored at home, and forced to observe all kinds of silly rules growing up (e.g., she was never allowed to go up/down stairs without someone holding her hand).

Doesn't this sound just like what Rachel, or one of the many other young SAHDs, are likely to write on their wedding day?

Most young people are romantic and silly. Simply many of us keep our diaries private.

I have written things like that myself; I just am careful enough not to expose my silliness.

Probably why, even though I am now a writer by trade, I never kept a diary. Even at age 10, I would read what I had written, cringe, and immediately rip all the pages out. Do not believe I could ever have an online blog that addressed my private life, even one restricted to selected readers. Guess I will never be famous...at least as far as any of you know. ;)

I would probably barf how I acted when I was young and in love - back when it was all perfect and new. We annoyed so many of our friends! I don't know why a - young woman - can't be happy, giddy, excited etc about being in love. It's fun.

Queen Victoria's mom was kind of weird from what I read but she turned out to be a good Queen so it worked out.

I read the first line and got excited...thought I'd stumbled upon the victorian equivalent of porn.

Actually this is fairly amazing and made Victoria quite the defrauder in her time, because for a start she was marrying for love, and she also did not hide her desire for Albert.

No really, there's another diary entry where she gets excited about him not wearing underwear. Her diary entry from her wedding night makes it clear that she enjoyed herself although historians are not allowed to quote from it so the contents haven't been published.

In terms of healthy sexual appetite, Victoria was nothing like Raquel.
