Bishop forces college to cancel Vicki Kennedy as speaker

Vicki Kennedy, widow of the late Ted Kennedy, was scheduled to be the speaker at the graduation of students at Anna Maria college till a Worchester Catholic Bishop forced them to cancel it.

That's infuriating, but not really surprising. For all of his faults, Ted Kennedy really did walk the walk when it came to championing the beliefs of the Catholic church that actually bring tangible value to people's lives--helping the poor, doing right by children, and being a voice for the voiceless. I've always heard that Vicki does, too.

I was attending a Catholic university during the 2008 campaign, and Hillary Clinton came to speak on campus at one point. The local diocese tried to force the school to cancel the event, but the board of trustees basically told them to get bent. It was pretty awesome, actually.
