Have we discussed Pinterest?

Pinterest is a SAHDs dream!!! And our favorite fundie girls are going nuts on there.

It's actually pretty eye-opening as to what's going on in the mind of a fundie girl. Jasmine Baucham's page makes me sad. She has a whole huge life in her glorious mind and she's wasting it away in her parents house. The girl has over 3200 pins!!!!! And the board of pins w/ the type of clothes she likes for a guy (although it basically morphs into the type of guy she likes whether she realizes it or not) is REALLY interesting. I so wish I could scoop her up and drop her in the middle of NYC. Something tells me she'd never go back to TX.

Anyway, if you haven't checked out some of our favorite fundies' Pinterest pages... it's worth a look-see.

Seriously. I can't help but think that the SAHD lifestyle porn is not dissimilar from all the thinspo/fitspo content on Pinterest. There's the performative aspect of collecting and curating it, the way it reinforces identity and belonging within a particular subculture working towards a destructive, limiting and ultimately impossible ideal.

Here's a link to Jasmine's pinterest - share 'em if you've got them!

Here's Kelly Bradrick's. Hers is pretty typical.

Audri Botkin (Her page actually makes me like her more)

Kelly Crawford (of course hers is over the top... typical Kelly)

And if we weren't suspicious enough of Brantley Disharoon... yes, he has his own Pinterest page. Gag.

P.S. Many seem to have this "Best Cast" board on Pinterest, which appears to just be their favorite actors/actresses. I'm surprised fundies do this. Jasmine has one and so does Brantley. Brantley favorite "actresses" seem to likely be girls he lusts after. And who knows... maybe the actors are guys he lusts after as well!! Anyway, I just think it's interesting. Brantley definitely appears to be the against-the-grain fundie not only because of his suspect background but his tastes definitely go more mainstream. The fact that he has a seen a movie with Helana Bonham Carter pretty much proves this.

I love Pinterest (I am very visual with a short attention span, and the layout of Pinterest is better for me than Tumblr) but I have noticed the large fundie presence.

Miss Raquel's:

No, she isn't obsessed with guys at all.

WOW!!!!!!! I'm not familiar w/ Raquel. Is she fundie-lite!?! I mean, I thought Jasmine's page was over the top but sheesh!! This Raquel chick is so desperate to get married it's incredible!! It actually makes me uncomfortable to see how many pins she has up of guys, guys kissing girls, etc. Good God! No wonder fundie guys would rather swing from vines in the Amazon w/ Dougie. This sort of desperation HAS to be such a turnoff to them!! It's a shame too, because Raquel is quite pretty.

The name of Miss Raquel's blog is God's Daughter. She literally says God is speaking through her, so basically if you disagree with her you disagree with God. She writes long posts on purity and courtship and is obsessed with getting married.

God also bought her a horse. For reals.

Thanks! I will be checking it out immediately. She's pure fundie gold! I wonder if she's in w/ the VF crowd.

Miss Raquel is the best. She is so shallow and self-centered yet she views herself as this super deep spiritual person.

I just so don't get pinterest. I'm sure mine would be some kind of eclectic menage that combines the best textiles of a Mongol yurt with some campy Louis XIV and 1950 modern. Which is how the current hovel is decorated

From a post on Jasmine's page: "Everyone I know is getting married or pregnant. I'm just getting more awesome."

She said it made her day.

I wonder if she knows that the guy who said it, who is also pictured, is as gay as pink paint.

I <3 Neil Patrick Harris. :)

Also we anticipate a match between her and a guy who comments on her blog called Anonymous Antagonist ;)

Seeing Jasmine's Pinterest boards is a rather depressing view into her world. To me, the plethora of boards that she's created reflects a lively, wide-ranging intellect & curiosity but all Mom & Dad do to encourage someone like this is to adopt yet another baby for her to raise along with the other siblings.

Have to admit that I first learned about Pinterest from following various fundie gal-blogs. I use it myself but mostly for recipes because it's a handy way to keep links together.

Does B. Dish (excuse me, laughing now) realise he's actually making a rude hand gesture in his profile photo? The V for Victory is palm out; palm in and it's kind of like the middle finger. He could also be trying and failing to be gangsta. I mean, B. Dish?

Wow, I'm amazed that all of these fundie "celebrities" have their pinterest accounts under their actual names. I haven't checked them out yet, but I am gearing up for some voyeurism! I think that I would really love pinterest, which is why I haven't made an account. I'm scared that I'd get sucked in and addicted to it. =p

Oh no.. there goes my sleep. I'll have to check them out..

and yes, Pinterest can be very addictive at first. I have an account now for about three weeks and actually only check it twice a day.

Here's Kristina's (of the 6 inch courting ruler and Arby's proposal):

http://pinterest.com/ilovetobake88/

She doesn't have a lot of pins yet. I think she looks kind of cute in the profile picture she has on there; I like her haircut. Josh is looking, um, not so hot. I can't believe he's only about 4 years older than her. He looks more like 10 years older.

ETA to add another one: Lyndsie! http://pinterest.com/lyndsiebrooker/

She has pinboards named after her kids, presumably for all the crap she wants to buy for them. Maybe she'll have a fundraiser for it!

Pintrest makes me itch. But, that's me. I tried it but couldn't muster the energy to bother with it so it was gone as quickly as it came.

I don't honestly get the point. But, again, that's me. I don't do a whole lot of sharing online, so I don't see the point in sharing things I come across that I like. It's like public bookmarks/favorites, or similar.

I don't get Pinterest either. I use Evernote to keep my links/bookmarks/etc. it is private
