well I'm actually liking them much more then the Duggar's .. I can't stop saying Wow-ee-ee they DO have so much personality. Dad seems fun and everything so far isn't turned into a sermon.. mom seems to enjoy her kids, and I don't see a buddy system. They woke the kids up them-selfs! But now a honey-moon I feel like I'm watching teenagers..trust me we can tell you still "work" on your marriage.

Liked how JB basically said that Hannie was a hellion but that he hoped she would grow up to be as sweet as Jana. In other words, "We are planning on getting her to Journey to the Heart as soon as we are able!" If JTTH had a pre-school program, poor Hannie would be booked in stat!!

Ooh, this makes me MAD! Hannie is a perfect little girl JUST the way she is, Jim-Blob! She's smart and curious and spunky and full of life and the fact that JB sees this as a PROBLEM and wants to stamp out her individuality and turn her into a flat lifeless drone like he's done to Jana just makes me absolutely SICK.

I'll have to duck twice.. not only have I been posting in the wrong thread, but I agree with holier. I like country, I'm quite used to acoustic gospel music, and they're decent singers. They do harmony fairly well, but I wouldn't go as far as a CD.

The Duggars were all cute in their first "speshuls" too. Its easy when things can be edited and they're taken to a place where they REALLY havent been before. They cant afford what TLC has given them. We know who they are and what they believe... just because they're oohing and aaahing at a jacuzzi doesnt change them at the core.

Gil still has no health insurance, borrows money from his son because he can't afford his family, and JB pimps out his family for politics and send his girls away to ATI conditioning camps. The Duggars were really appealing at first. The Bates are no different, except that they also made the mistake of mistreating their animals on camera and posting photos of Confederate jerks as heroes. Not quite as savvy, but obviously they have polished their act. Nice TLC funded cabin as well. The Bates are sellouts just as much as the Duggars.

I would watch a show with Duggar and Bates kids. The parents suck.

In the special, there was no mention about the NICU stay (just a blurb about Jeb's weight and height). They made it like he was born without any issues. That kind of bothered me, because who knows what else the Bates are glossing over.

I can't say much else because I only caught the tail-end of the special. I wanted to watch the special on the Japanese Tsunami that came on after the Bates special, and I got tired of hearing how Frothy had won the primaries today.

And to the point about the editing, he was one of the kids clearly shown having a great time.

Yet more proof that the Duggars really have no core principles when it comes to the show.

*rolls eyes* Video games are fine. As long you are still getting homework done and spending time with family, escaping with a game is not a problem.

NCIS was a rerun again tonight, so I watched the Duggars, and then stuck around to watch the Bates special.

I only caught the very end of the Duggar episode, but I don't think they're necessarily being hypocritical about the video games. I was raised by parents who thought video games would rot our brains (or something), and none were allowed in the house until I was a freshman in college. But we did occasionally go to places like the Duggars did in the show. I think it's fine if you want to say that video games are something you don't want in your home, and they're a treat for special occasions.

I know the Bateses aren't any better than the Duggars at the core, but I really liked Alyssa (she was the one who had the birthday, yes?). She was so girly with her pink purse and everything, but then she was so excited to go hunting and talked about how she wanted to get the buck and hang it on the wall or whatever. She just seemed like such a normal seventeen-year-old to me. And even though the Bateses and Duggars don't differ much in terms of belief, they just seemed, like someone else said, less obnoxious. My mom was watching with me and she declared that she likes Gil and Kelly much better than Michelle and Jim Bob. Obviously, I don't agree with either of their world views, but if I had to pick one of the families to hang out with for a day, I'd pick the Bateses.

I kind of like the singing. I think they're trying to hard, but they have nice voices, if they would just relax a little bit.

Can someone explain to me the difference between a video game and a computer game? Aren't the Duggars promoting a computer game? Racistville, or whatever? This is the same thing as Michelle and the "cable TV is garbage" but they have a show on cable TV.
