The dugger breakfast?

though this costs way to much the idea is there. this is one of the sillier frozen foods I have seen. you could make it from scratch with a couple of scoops and a bowl in the microwave with about as much effort and I bet faster.

I went one winter eating something similar and then realised a bag of oats cost half as much and last twice as long and take the same ammount of time to make!

While I do enjoy some Amy's products, I agree that this is a stupid waste of money (much better priced if this is in the US though. I pay through the nose for many organic veg*n products here).

when my wife could each such things I just put the right size scoop in the container and another one for water added some sugar and Cinnamon and zapped stirred and zapped again. about 3 minutes depending on the cereal. the only hassle is using a larger bowl so it did not boil over.

I used to like the Trader Joe's frozen steel cut oatmeal, but it was really expensive for what you get. Plus I moved to a town where the nearest Joe's is two hours away. Auntie Annie's gives me bad memories of college, when those were the only vegetarian entrees for sale at the on-campus convenience store. The rice bowls came out of the box in black paper bowls, and more often than not the food ended up dyed black after microwaving.

I merely boil water pour it over some steel cut oat and add dried or fresh fruit. I like mine chewy. I eat my gruel every morning.

I'm trying to think of a living situation in which frozen oatmeal would be more convenient than just plain oats or the individually packaged kind. Maybe if you...only have a freezer?

Anyway, the picture on the box is making me hungry for breakfast. I think I might have to have some oatmeal in the morning.

I didn't know cream of rice existed. My DD is allergic to oats. Good to know. I get a pound of steel cut oats for $3 but DH and DS prefer the instant the huge can is under $2. I can't imagine frozen oatmeal. Then again steelcut oats take as long to cook as brown rice. Rolled oats are the same nutrition wise and take like 7-8 minutes.

Anyone want to write them and tell them there being gluttonous. There such idiots. It literally takes one minute to cook oats. They can even make oats in the crockpot and have breakfast ready in the morning.

to be fair steel cut oats take more like 30 minutes to cook. But yeah it's lazy, not money crunching....

The laziest thing I've ever seen in the frozen food section is Smuckers Uncrustables.

PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICHES. FROZEN. CUT OUT WITH COOKIE CUTTERS.

Any mom who buys that for their kid on a regular basis is too lazy to live.

Boil them for 3 minutes before you go to bed, then stick a lid over them. In the morning you only need 5 - 10 more minutes of cook time.

My kids got those once. I *think* it was at Disney. They said they were awful. I can't imagine spending that much on a box of them when you can make them fresh on whole grain bread for so much less.

Or has kids who REALLY don't like crust....

Cream of rice is usually sold in the baby food aisle. It's a common food to transition a tot from milk/formula to solid food. It's also pretty good; I quite like it.

I buy PB&J Uncrustables. My kiddos will eat them. Once a week or so, then take them for lunch. Yes, it is lazy. But, it is hard to be perfect all of the time.

No, because a mom who isn't too lazy to live would just cut the crust off themselves.

I have a rice cooker that I cook my steel cut oats in. I just push the regular cycle button, add the ingredients, and then it's done when it goes off. It probably cooks for about 20-30 minutes.

Those uncrustables are absolutely disgusting. I went to this not quite upscale, but really nice local brewery with my family and they had a very minimal kid's menu. PB&J was on there and I ordered it (for $5.99) and for my kids. Yeah, they gave them uncrustables and my son refused to eat it because it was so gross. I put up a bit of a fuss because really, you can get an entire box of those things for less, not that I'd buy them, and at a restaurant that was as nice as that, they should have been offering something of a higher quality than that. I mean at least take the time to smear some stuff on some bread.

My kids don't like crusts (or white bread for that matter) and I have all kinds of sandwich cutters, my favorite (and my son's) are the Star Wars themed ones that I got from William Sonoma on clearance. I make PB&N (nutella) for my son's lunch everyday and it takes me longer to unscrew and screw the lids on the stuff than it does to actually make the sandwich. Heck, it takes longer to walk to the dishwasher, open it up, and put the dirty knife in than it does to make the sandwich.

Down here, it's with the cream of wheat and oatmeal cereals. Half of my household can't eat oatmeal and the other half doesn't like it. So cream of rice is our go-to hot cereal. It's best swimming in milk with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Of course, it's not particularly healthy that way. But it tastes good and is very filling. :D

My mother-in-law tried to get me to buy those for my kids. I stay at home; if I don't have time to make PB & J, there's an issue. And they can peel the crusts off themselves.

My kids love Lunchables, but they are loaded with sodium. We have a deal. I let them have them twice a month (2 lunch days). Not a bad compromise. They get in their "junk food" days and I get the healthy stuff in the rest of the month. Everybody's happy.

Ahem- mom and/or dad.

Heck, I work full time and I still have time to make PB & J's without the crust. It takes maybe 60 seconds, less if you have a good bread knife. That said, my god-daughter loves them and manages to snag about one a week as a treat. I have no idea what she sees in them. My own daughter declared them "just horrible".

I don't want to give Smugs any ideas, but uncrustables are not that awful tasting if you deep fry them. Granted I've never done that sober. :D

I hate these winds. They are absolutely HOWLING here in SoCal. Not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight because I'm so afraid we'll get sudden evacuation orders the way we did with the Woolsey fire in 2018. There's no way of knowing when and where a fire might crop up and once it does, there's no containing it in these winds. I'm praying for the safety of our brave firefighters. My heart is with everyone in the Pacific Palisades and in Eaton Canyon near Pasadena.

The world doesn't need more people. If people want to have children, that's fine, but there is no reason we have to keep having more people.

      Winter snack: crispy chickpeas
Preheat oven to 400 F. Drain and rinse a can of chickpeas, then toss in olive oil and whatever spices you like. I use fried chili crisp. Cook for 15 minutes, stir, another 15 minutes, stir, repeat until they're crispy and delicious. Good as a snack, on salads, etc.
I am sharing my super secret chili crisp source just because I love you guys:

Happy New Year, all you amazing people! I just saw a (possibly joking) tradition online called Yule Boasting.

      My quick text version:
i will begin 2025 by distilling a barrel full of tequila from the agave plants in my yard, assisted by george clooney, who admires me greatly and will be sad and heartbroken when my plan moves ahead without further human assistance.
sky-clad, i will find my familiar, a malevolently clever curve-billed thrasher named Willie Wildman. together we will roam my neighborhood, putting together an animal army consisting of a coyote pack, a squadron of javelinas, and my local great horned owl pair, perseverance and ingenuity.
we will all consume mass quantities of tequila, paint our faces blue, and set out on yucca broomsticks to reach our nation's capitol.
we will swoop down on DC, screaming and howling, occupying first the capitol and then the white house, where we will become co-presidents and replace congress with the yacht-sinking orcas of the mediterranean. AND EVERYONE WILL FUCKING REJOICE.

It's crazy to think that it has already been 25 years since we were worried about what would happen when the calendars would switch over to Y2K.
