Questions about Home Churches

Whoa that sounds...scary, to be honest. I have never heard of this happening in the UK but then I think most churches here are Anglican/Catholic/Methodist etc and non-denominational churches where they have more power are not common. It all sounds really strange to me.

It was more just straight up weird for me, I mean there is nothing Biblical about that- so I tried to ignore it and see if there was a way to join our old church without all the bells and whistles. I got a big fat no and that's when it was revealed more and more to me that it was more of a business decision than an actual commitment to the church or to Jesus, so we left. I personally am somewhat uncomfortable trusting my whole faith in one Pastor and following blindly, recently some very prominent Pastors here in Nashville were accused of sexual misconduct. I can't imagine what I would do or think knowing I had invested years, money, and time into someone and their church and then this kind of stuff comes up. Of course they are writing it off as that they women are just trying to get money from them and the whole thing is an attack from Satan trying to destroy the church...

It certainly fits in with US Christian Right attitudes to faith and independence and individualism (which is my academic specialism haha)!
