This is why Santorum is doing so well

Look at this poll: http://www.budgettravel.com/contest/nom ... action1207

The Creation Museum is at the top of the list so far with votes

I am so glad that a museum with completely bogus information is apparently thought to be the best family attraction in America. Is this what our country is coming to?!

*shudder*

I agree, what is your country coming to? You've got some of the world's great wonders, amazing national parks and some excellent museums and galleries - and the Creation Museum comes up first. Over the Smithsonian museums. The US is in a worse state than I thought. I keep trying to remind myself that it's a small religious minority, and then I see how much coverage Santorum gets, and how a huge number of people don't believe in evolution, and I'm not so sure. I keep reminding myself that many FreeJingerites come from the USA, so there's a quiverfull of people on the other side of the battle...

Please someone reassure me that one of the world's most influential countries isn't turning into a theocracy? PLEASE?!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?????????????????????????????????????????

Time to take out stock in crazy pills.

Can't reassure anyone that we are not becoming a theocracy. I do know that there are people who click on the link to keep it up at the top just like the fj's (and others) do with Santorum.

I keep picturing the History channel, or something like it showing a gizzzion documentaries about the atrocites that occured in the United States. I can imagine people voicing their wonder about how such a civilized country could become so backward and barbaric when they had all the information and history to tell them it was wrong.

What is happening here really resonates with the rise of the third reich in ways that are too creepy and real.

I think there's has been a campaign on facebook or somewhere to get people to vote up the creation museum. I remember readign it somewhere last week, might have been on here.

There has to have been. I sub to budget travel and can assure you that their general readership wouldn't pick it as number 1. They might pick it, but not as the place to visit.

So, okay, I know I'm totally paranoid, but sometimes I imagine them rounding us up in 20 years for the posts we're making now.

Thank the fundie God.

I don't think this means anything. Stephen Colbert got a bridge in Hungary named after him with 7 million votes than the whole population of Hungary.

You're not paranoid if you actually have enemies.

Yep, there's been a thread on this already. You can vote multiple times, and this kind of voting opens doors to campaigns to basically spam one option to the top. It's exactly what the creationists are doing.

If they do round us up in 20 years, it'll be easy to get out of. Just spin a sob story about how fallen and sinful and fucking terrible you were, drinking your troubles away and banging anything that sat still long enough and eventually wound up in the deep abyss of Free Jinger, but later on you found Jesus and you're all holy and shit now. Fundies eat that shit up.

Hell no, I'll declare my allegiances proudly and moon them when they start shooting.

I hate these winds. They are absolutely HOWLING here in SoCal. Not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight because I'm so afraid we'll get sudden evacuation orders the way we did with the Woolsey fire in 2018. There's no way of knowing when and where a fire might crop up and once it does, there's no containing it in these winds. I'm praying for the safety of our brave firefighters. My heart is with everyone in the Pacific Palisades and in Eaton Canyon near Pasadena.

The world doesn't need more people. If people want to have children, that's fine, but there is no reason we have to keep having more people.

      Winter snack: crispy chickpeas
Preheat oven to 400 F. Drain and rinse a can of chickpeas, then toss in olive oil and whatever spices you like. I use fried chili crisp. Cook for 15 minutes, stir, another 15 minutes, stir, repeat until they're crispy and delicious. Good as a snack, on salads, etc.
I am sharing my super secret chili crisp source just because I love you guys:

Happy New Year, all you amazing people! I just saw a (possibly joking) tradition online called Yule Boasting.

      My quick text version:
i will begin 2025 by distilling a barrel full of tequila from the agave plants in my yard, assisted by george clooney, who admires me greatly and will be sad and heartbroken when my plan moves ahead without further human assistance.
sky-clad, i will find my familiar, a malevolently clever curve-billed thrasher named Willie Wildman. together we will roam my neighborhood, putting together an animal army consisting of a coyote pack, a squadron of javelinas, and my local great horned owl pair, perseverance and ingenuity.
we will all consume mass quantities of tequila, paint our faces blue, and set out on yucca broomsticks to reach our nation's capitol.
we will swoop down on DC, screaming and howling, occupying first the capitol and then the white house, where we will become co-presidents and replace congress with the yacht-sinking orcas of the mediterranean. AND EVERYONE WILL FUCKING REJOICE.

It's crazy to think that it has already been 25 years since we were worried about what would happen when the calendars would switch over to Y2K.
