I should point out that if we are strictly adhering to the Duggars’ own logic, it should be 21 Kids And Counting, since the family counts their unborn children no differently than those who have made it to viability outside the womb. Michelle has openly discussed the loss of her very first pregnancy as one reason for her religious beliefs and her subsequent chucking of birth control. Add to that the miscarriage of Baby Jubilee in December, and you come up with twenty-one.

But the Duggars are using the number twenty, and recently ‘opened up’ about the miscarriage of her twentieth child. This is an interesting choice of headline verbiage, because they’re not really a private family. Nothing in their family has been closed to the cameras for the past ten years. Coincidentally, her ‘opening up’ happened at the same time the Duggars decided to use their public pulpit to endorse Santorum again.

Glad to see Forbes post a somewhat critical article that at least acknowledges J'Caleb's existence.

Last month, the Duggar family took to the road in a hastily-painted tour bus to support Republican-hopeful Rick Santorum, which simultaneously gave a publicity boost to TLC’s ninth season of 19 Kids And Counting that premiered last week.

Everything about them screams media whore. From their pimping the bus for frothy to her TV interviews. They'll stop at nothing.

They can't make money off Caleb, so no, he doesn't count. Ugh.

Oh, and this could also mean Kelly Bates has anymore children.

The Duggars seems to be getting quite a bit of negative attention these days.

Pity Santorum won't be in a position to do much for them when it's all said and done, because he will not be holding any political office.

Hopefully this either signals the show is already over, or if not, that it's demise is going to be hastened.

Was it worth it, Boob?

It's become clear to me that forgetting about Caleb was NOT a mistake. They truly do not feel like he matters. Michelle re-recorded her "message" to Jubilee to include him but yet.....they forgot about him AGAIN in the Today interview...She said she has "nine boys, nine girls, and one girl in heaven!

These people are a joke....it's no wonder they support Santorum!

Am I the only one who has wondered whether there ever was a Caleb? Sometimes I think Michelle never had a miscarriage and they just made up a reason why they are against birth control. Or, maybe Michelle's period was late once and she assumed that she had a miscarriage when it finally started. I have never seen any emotion from Jim Bob or Michelle when discussing the miscarriage. Oh I am really bad, maybe Michelle just lied to Jim Bob about the miscarriage for sympathy and it all got out of hand.

Great article, but not many dyed in the wool Duggar fans read forbes. But that makes three critical articles this month, and thats progress.

Back when I actually thought the Duggars were real, I watched their show and I do remember one episode where they spoke at a conference and the miscarriage and Michelle appeared to be emotional and crying while talking about it. But then again, who knows what's real with these people?

I don't really question if the miscarriage happened, it's more about WHY in the world do they feel like he is not important?! They are definitely hiding alot of information...there's some darkness there.

Also, how come this is the first time we heard the name CALEB? hmmm...sounds like they just made it up...I wonder how they sleep at night with all this stuff...it really sounds like a hot mess!

They haven't invented a time machine to go back and have a service for their first miscarriage. The more Jichelle talks about Caleb, the more chance someone might ask things like:

Since you preach life begins at conception and count miscarriage #2 as baby #19, isn't Caleb baby #2 and the kid count been off since then?

Why didn't Caleb get a J name?

Why didn't you have a funeral/service/tombstone for Caleb?

and other questions that would further point out the extreme differences between Jichelle's first and second miscarriages (aka Caleb and Jubilee).

Honestly, I just feel bad for Jubilee. The kid didn't even spend any time on this earth and they are still managing to exploit her.

I thought she said "10 sons and 10 daughters, but one daughter's in heaven," or something like that. 9 and 9 is 18, but 19 are alive.

And it's extremely disgusting.

Didn't give the Duggars a "surge." As someone posted here, their ratings, compared to other cable shows, were in the crapper. The ratings for tonight's shows will certainly drop like one of Smuggar's turds in said crapper (I'll bet the second episode is <1MM...they dropped that low a couple times last season before making asses of themselves overseas).

Next week looks to be even worse.

No, I wonder that too. Either than or 'Caleb' was just a blighted ovum so was never even a potential life at all. As for the name I suspect that it was just thought up on the spur of the moment - hence not a J'name - when it was pointed out to her that she was ignoring her first miscarriage. I seriously doubt that 'Caleb' meant anything real to her and the whole quiverful thing is just fame whoring.

I believe that Michelle actually had a miscarriage, and was subsequently brainwashed (willingly?) into believing that birth control was evil. I just don't think they actually care about that pregnancy at this point, which is a reasonable position to take. Yes, a miscarriage is a sad thing, but when it's in the first trimester, you easily get pregnant afterwards and go on to have over a dozen more children, it can't really be that relevant anymore. But since that doesn't fit with their life-begins-at-conception schtick, they have to pretend like they care just as much about "Caleb". They forget about him constantly because they're faking the emotions in the first place. Of course, it didn't take them many babies after the miscarriage to decide on using a mega-family (plus the ridiculous J-names) as their meal ticket.

I hate these winds. They are absolutely HOWLING here in SoCal. Not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight because I'm so afraid we'll get sudden evacuation orders the way we did with the Woolsey fire in 2018. There's no way of knowing when and where a fire might crop up and once it does, there's no containing it in these winds. I'm praying for the safety of our brave firefighters. My heart is with everyone in the Pacific Palisades and in Eaton Canyon near Pasadena.

The world doesn't need more people. If people want to have children, that's fine, but there is no reason we have to keep having more people.

      Winter snack: crispy chickpeas
Preheat oven to 400 F. Drain and rinse a can of chickpeas, then toss in olive oil and whatever spices you like. I use fried chili crisp. Cook for 15 minutes, stir, another 15 minutes, stir, repeat until they're crispy and delicious. Good as a snack, on salads, etc.
I am sharing my super secret chili crisp source just because I love you guys:

Happy New Year, all you amazing people! I just saw a (possibly joking) tradition online called Yule Boasting.

      My quick text version:
i will begin 2025 by distilling a barrel full of tequila from the agave plants in my yard, assisted by george clooney, who admires me greatly and will be sad and heartbroken when my plan moves ahead without further human assistance.
sky-clad, i will find my familiar, a malevolently clever curve-billed thrasher named Willie Wildman. together we will roam my neighborhood, putting together an animal army consisting of a coyote pack, a squadron of javelinas, and my local great horned owl pair, perseverance and ingenuity.
we will all consume mass quantities of tequila, paint our faces blue, and set out on yucca broomsticks to reach our nation's capitol.
we will swoop down on DC, screaming and howling, occupying first the capitol and then the white house, where we will become co-presidents and replace congress with the yacht-sinking orcas of the mediterranean. AND EVERYONE WILL FUCKING REJOICE.

It's crazy to think that it has already been 25 years since we were worried about what would happen when the calendars would switch over to Y2K.
