I'm just sitting here, shaking my head, I don't know what else to do. How is this man currently leading the GOP polls? What is happening down there in the US? Why should the president's agenda be based on the bible? What about the millions upon millions of people who live there who are not Christian?

All good questions. At his blog today, Andrew Sullivan quoted Timothy Egan who ran the numbers, and I think they explain what is happening here.

"So far, three million voters have participated in the Republican races, less than the population of Connecticut. This means that 89 percent of all registered voters in those states [that have held caucuses or primaries] have not participated in what is, from a horse-race perspective, a very tight contest. Yes, we know Republicans don’t like their choices; it’s a meh primary. But still, in some states, this election could be happening in a ghost town. Less than 1 percent of registered voters turned out for Maine’s caucus. In Nevada, where Republican turnout was down 25 percent from 2008, only 3 percent of total registered voters participated. This is not majority rule by any measure; it barely qualifies as participatory democracy.......the small fraction of Americans who are trying to pick the Republican nominee are old, white, uniformly Christian and unrepresentative of the nation at large."

So he's clarified:

In other words: "What we'd like to do is impose our moral values on people who have a constitutional right to have their own values OUTSIDE the Bible."

Yeah, how does he not see that works in reverse? Santorum can't tell Obama to hold to Santorum's religious values in that case!

Also you can't simultaneously call something a theology and call it secular. As I heard many times, theo logos means "word of God". So secular, great fit thar. *headdesk*

Well, I found this on facebook and thought some of the FJ crowd might get a kick out of it. I didn't know which Santorum post to add this to, so I just decided on an old one of mine.

I have tried to add the image a few times, but so far no luck - I guess the link will have to do.

So here you go, a Rick Santorum portrait made entirely of gay porn! Even when you click in the picture to enlarge it, the pictures are still very tiny. I'll say it once, obviously NSFW ;)

Not breaking the link because I can't see the site caring where they get hits from, but if someone objects, just say the word :)

Oh sorry I didn't know that, I thought she had Trisomy 21.

I believe Trisomy 18 is called Edwards Syndrome. And as said above, it's terminal. I do feel sympathetic for the Santorum family in that regard. That's about it though. I think the guy is a dickhead who needs to go away. My Republican father thinks the man is a "whack job or rather needs one across the head." He thinks this race is too much into religion and the candidates are becoming too involved in people's personal lives. Course the guy is a science major who thinks Creationism is hilarious and putting it in school's violates separation of church and state. He says all he hears Santorum talk about is "gun rights, anti abortion bullshit, anti-birth control which is none of his damn business (wife and daughters have used or currently use them so dad thinks bc is good), and forcing his idea of religion down our throats. The idiot even wants to cut back on public education!" Since my father went to inner city public schools for the most part and sent all three of us to public schools, he sees them as a good thing for everyone so he thinks it's idiotic because "You cut back funds, the inner city schools will be hurt the most."

I'm not a Republican so I always enjoy hearing both sides and hearing what my father thinks of current politics. We have fun debates. :D

Wonder about Jesus' agenda........

Jesus would vote for Obama. He'd prefer someone a little more socialist, like himself, but he'll go with the lesser of too evils. Jesus would also probably find Santorum as much a crazy person as we do and be embarassed that Santorum thinks they have a connection.
