Santorum conveniently blames his wife for his misogyny

I saw that. Actually, he blames evil feminists for being mean to his wife about staying home with the kids, which made Mrs. S all upset, because wimmins are all emotional like that, so she had to steal a draft of his book and write hateful things about working mothers. Fucking frothy.

No radical feminist told me that the only thing that matters is what I do at work. I think he has feminist confused with another word...like capitalist.

Ooh, well said!

How real 'Manly' of him, blaming a woman for his faults.

Honestly, I'm ashamed that my own gender still blames women for their own mistakes. So old-fashion and obsolete.

Well, I've finally found the ONE thing that Santorum and I agree on. I think fatherhood training programs are a good idea. Otherwise, WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS GUY?

OMG. How could he even say with a straight face that he doesn't remember that quote from his book. It was only the most famous passage from his book, the one that garnered all the headlines when the book came out and that he got grilled on at least a couple of times back then. You would think he would have been prepared to sound less like a nincompoop when asked about it.

Oh, and I think he is one of those idiots who thinks that grossly sexist sentiments are somehow more acceptable if a woman utters it. Umm, no. And besides, he obviously endorsed what she said, even assuming she actually wrote it.

Oh, and don't you love how, in his account, Karen Santorum sounds just like the fundie bloggers we follow. Waaaah, people looked down on me when I quit work, waaaah, it must be the fault of those mean feminists, waaaaah, my ego is clearly more important than other women's interests in legal, social and cultural equality.

But I suspect your content may dipper ;)

For someone who thinks that he's a big manly man, he sure likes to hide behind his wife's skirt a lot.

QFT

Hey Santorum, if you're going to spout this garbage, at least have the courage to own it.

Also, how does Santorum's statement that all should have equal opportunity to rise at work make him "the only true conservative" in the race? I'd like to see Josh's cogent political analysis on that,

I took a quick look at the top 100 grossing films of last year - not ONE shows stay-at-home moms as being inferior to working moms. The top film, Harry Potter, shows a SAHM (Mrs. Weasley) as being just as capable as trained warriors in battle. The other top grossing film, Transformers, shows.... well the only female character's work is a source of jealousy for her boyfriend. Then she's kidnapped and has to be rescued. Her having a job is not portrayed as a positive.

So I'm not sure where Santorum is getting his Hollywood-hates-SAHM schtick.

Aside from the obvious sexism, I'd have to say that Santorum isn't qualified because he's an idiot.

If you write it, you own it. Period. Think about how this would fly for a president: "Oh, I don't remember that part of the speech that I gave. My speechwriters must have slipped it in."

I also don't have a lot of patience for anyone making generic attacks against society. Again, own your claims, and do some analysis. It's far more powerful to be able to say, "Just this week, Article A said this, Article B said that, and X organization came out with this statement."

I love these @$$holes who think divorce should be made more difficult. Do they have any idea how stressful and fragmenting divorce usually was in the days before no-fault?

One of my uncles endured a divorce in which each party was urged to pressure friends and relatives to lie in court, making life hell for his kids.

Attempts at covenant marriage have largely failed, except in LA. Jindal was a big proponent of it and yet when the option passed he failed to get remarried under the covenant.
