Experiencing the Power of Faith

With nineteen children and no fixed income for

many years, Gil Bates has experienced the supernatural

provision of God by applying five essential character

qualities. The Bates continue to be a testimony to the

world through their new show, similar to the Duggars’.

You will be encouraged by this family’s excitement about

a living God. (Speaking live in Big Sandy and Nashville!)

Vital Questions Girls Ask

Because of the international attention that

is being given to the Duggar family, the four

oldest daughters receive thousands of questions

from girls who have serious problems

and want practical answers. Jana, Jill, Jessa, and

Jinger will select key questions and give precise

Biblical principles.

It doesn't give dates for Duggar girls so they may be going to all sessions: Big Sandy Apr 24-27, Nashville May 29 - Jun 1, Sacramento Jun 26 - 29, Indianapolis Jul 29 - Aug 3.

Edited to add: maybe theirs will just be videotaped or something since it does not say speaking live. Don't know.

ETA: I'll throw this in here, kind of like a bonus! Jana Duggar's badly written thoughts on God http://www.livingthejourney.com/2012/01/26/all-things/

Which character quality is using your own children as slaves? Doesn't owning your own landscaping business count as 'fixed income'?

Great Scott, that was horribly written. Just...wow. What's with the "...sentence fragment"?

Notice it was not actually posted by Jana. Also that her name is spelled "Jana Dugger." I suspect it may have been "edited" or have transcription errors (because that fragment is just so random).

So much for the SOTDRT & College Minus. Apparently, she has never been taught to work her "main point" (aka: what college folk - and even high school kids) know as the THESIS) into the first paragraph of her article.

*bangs head against wall*

I think the term "fixed income" means he may own the tree-cutting business but only gets a call every other month to cut down a tree or two. I think it's ridiculous that they claim to have, "experienced the supernatural provision of God by applying five essential character qualities." God's provision for needs has nothing to do with character qualities. That would mean God's provisions are based on whether or not you smiled enough and didn't look at anything NIKE on the ebil inturnet. I guess one of the ways God provides for Gil is through Lawson's parent-support money. How much do you want to bet that part doesn't come up!

I also LOOOOOVE how the J'slaves will give "precise" biblical answers for "serious problems" they've never encountered in their lives. But then, it's probably ATI problems like, "I'm 30 and still putting on my daddy's slippers. How do I keep a smiling countenance while waiting for prince charming?" --signed Sarah Maxwell Anonymous

To which the girls will respond, "Um, it says in um, the Bible, that um, you should be content in all things, um so yeah."

It's sad to think maybe Michelle could have stayed hooked up to that other guy, and maybe have gone off to live a normal life. Jana's piece sounds like it was written by a very young child.

It isn't even her piece. It's just the same old tired story Michelle has told 2937927439712910 times about the Christian counselor at her school. I noticed she capitalized 'father', not in reference to God or Jesus but in reference to her own father. Barf.

How can a gift consist in being nothing? "Romans 8 shows us that we get the gifts of no condemnation, no [list of other things]." (Exceedingly paraphrased.)

Was Jana the one that seemed to be on lockdown, sitting next to her world-clever parents at book signings, etc.? Maybe this essay was part of a re-education program?

?? Did I miss something? Are the Bateses getting a show?!

They should rewrite the biography as "With nineteen children and no fixed income for many years, until now, thanks to TLC and child extortion, Gil Bates has experienced the supernatural provision of God by having more children than the Duggars.

Gil put out a DVD on living on a fixed income a few years back. There was a blog somewhere online that had an interview with Gil and he discussed how he mooched certain things from other people. He once got a van donated to him way before the Duggars gave away their bus to him.

The Bates family certainly does live on a fixed income--whatever Lawson is fixin' to give them! How does mooching off of your barely adult son qualify as a blessing from God?

And, um, did they just let the cat out of the bag by mentioning the Bateses are getting their own show? Or is that in reference to the special?

Agree. I'd say about 10 years old at most.

Think about it. Unless Jana has some sort of learning disability, 5th grade level writing is as far as Michelle could get her. The other girls are probably no further along, yet they are the ones home schooling the younger kids.

James will probably never learn to read.

I think he has the potential to become a person who is illiterate or barely literate but learns how to function by watching others, so it hides his illiteracy. Sad.

To be fair, Jana doesn't have her own pool of dating experience to draw on. And likely never will.

So how do these girls have any advice to give? They have made no decisions on their own and they have never experienced life. What type of challenges have they had to overcome besides the Peter Pan collars and frumpers?

Oh, I wasn't aware it was supposed to be dating advice, since what she had written was so vague.

Keeping smiles on their faces when they really want to run out screaming at the news that the next J-baby is on its way?

It wasn't, really. But Jana has no 'there was this boy I liked, and...' stories. Shes 22. Urgh! :x
