Will TWOP reopen the Duggar thread on Feb 14?

Since the TWOP board was shut down, the moderator stated he would reopen it if there were new episodes. I guess those of us who found FJ from there will have to wait til Valentine's day to post there again? Or does anything think it might be permanently shut down?

I think it might reopen. I wouldn't be surprised if Howard posts a sticky telling posters not to discuss CollegeMinus, the Bateses, Maxwells and other fundie families.

It's not Howard anymore, it's Gadget. But I hope they do reopen it. The VSE is going to be a goldmine for snark.

Gadget also took over the "Teen Mom 2" thread which was always very active. He/she closed it on January 30 because "Y'all can't follow the rules, y'all can't stay on topic, and y'all can't just discuss what happens on your TV. There is no reason why a single thread should be this much of a pain in the ass." There have been 2 new episodes since then and it STILL hasn't been re-opened.

I have noticed that Howard and Gadget seem to be switching a few threads to mod on. Gadget was moderating the Glee threads and Howard took over a few weeks ago. I still wouldn't be surprised if Gadget posts a sticky if he or she reopens the 19KAC thread. I don't really post on the 19KAC thread on twop, but I like reading some of the responses. I hope Gadget doesn't do snipping on the posts.

Can someone explain why they have all the rules? Is it because of who owns the boards? I guess I would think that the more posters and traffic a site gets, it is better for the site. I can see the don't want spoilers posted whch is fine but what is wrong with discussing chid support on teen mom or homeschooling on the 19kids thread?

Bravo owns the board and I can't believe the mods are told to shut down present-day info on their shows, given they're taped 6 months in advance. Shit is happening now that is often hinted at during taping and shown in the final edit.

The thread will only be re-opened if someone emails Gadget. I have no relationship with the person, so if someone else wants to give him/her/it a nudge sometime next Tuesday, go for it. I had to do that with TWiT Howard to reopen the BH Ho thread, which he had promised to re-open after the show last Monday (and didn't until I reminded him that he was derelict in his duties).

I've never understood this either-- why all the rules and shutting down those threads? Doesn't more traffic=more advertising money for them?

When it comes to real time incidents involving reality show particpants, the TWOP mods sometimes don't apply the rules to all the threads. One of the biggest problems on the Teen Mom thread was that the Gary/Amber domestic violence incidents were banned from discussion. But on the Girls Next Door thread, the mods allowed people to talk about Hef's girlfriends in real time and events that weren't filmed were discussed in that thread. On the Kardashians thread, real time incidents were allowed up until Kim's divorce.

I sent a message to Howard last week, informing him of the new episodes. he actually replied and said he would forward the message to Gadget. So here's hoping.

Gadget is right, there's no reason why a thread should be that much of a pain in the ass. Now if she and the rest of the gestapo would quit making things so goddamn hard on themselves, they wouldn't have to deal with it.

It's a freaking entertainment board. There should seriously be nothing off-limits for posting, except the usual threats/spam/etc. TWOP is bullshit. I'm really glad I wasn't invested in it beyond the Duggars; I haven't been back since I found FJ.

Surely someone makes money on the advertising that's posted on the TWOP website. Don't these moderators realize that eventually people will go elsewhere, and the powers-that-be at TWOP will lose revenue?

I've been trying to find another Teen Mom board. I don't post much, but I love to read other opinions about that show and it's one of the few places I've found that I could stand the posts. I can't believe they've closed that thread for over 2 weeks while there are new episodes airing.

I've been reading over there since the MBTV days, and the insistence about only posting what's shown on tv drives me nuts in the reality show threads. It's bad with Teen Mom, since the footage they show is over a year old, and the girls are in the news all the time with current happenings. When shows are recapped and have their own forums, they allow people to have separate threads talking about what the actors are currently up to, spoilers for upcoming shows, etc. Since so many of the reality shows only have 1 thread, it seems like people should be allowed to talk about it there.

Hopefully they'll open up the Duggar thread for the new episodes, I like to read that over there too.

I haven't posted on the IMDB boards in awhile, but on those boards a lot of the posters disliked Chelsea quite a bit. There were some Leah fans on that board, but not a lot.

I don't care how bad Gadget is...no one can possibly be as bad as Howard. I'm personally thrilled about the switch.
