IIRC, they had JB &M did a segment describing all of their kids, and some other stuff but it was cut and edited to accommodate an update on johannah.

I never saw the original but I read that there are scenes of the girls carrying around diaper bags and looking totally exhausted while Michelle just goes merrily on her way. That, and I guess she said she purposely weans at around 9 months to get pregnant again, but later they re-taped it so now it has her saying her milk naturally "dries up" around then and she becomes pregnant again.

There was also a scene where they went out to eat and afterwards all the kids pitched in and helped clean the restaurant... Why did they but that? And didnt they say they were past of the quiverful movement in that one?

If you look up Duggars Big Family Album on youtube, you can see some of the original 14 Children footage. I think DBFA covers Jennifer's birth, but a lot of it is just stock footage from the original special because that was just before 17 Kids started and they weren't following the Duggars around at that point. I know it includes the scene where Michelle tries to say something about each of the children, and gets kind of lost after Joy-Anna.

That part starts at 3:39 or so in this clip.

Michelle looks seriously worse now, compared to when the original clips were shot.

I just remember their cross-country trip and watching all the children standing on the beach in LA/West Coast- not one child ran towards the ocean, to the surf line or to participate in the ocean in any way- not even wetting their feet. It was th first time I had ever seen children not respond to the ocean- like little robtokins. Once they looked for a few minutes, they were "done" and headed back to the bus to head home. Very bizarre.....

What an amazing adventure: to stare at the ocean for a few moments, then back onto the shitty-diaper smelling bus for 20 more hours. Wow.

14 Kids was Jackson's birth.

On the Road with 16 Kids must have been done by different people, it has not be re-released although segments from it are in one of the other specials, IIRC Raising 16 Kids or the Big Family Album.

I did not see the unedited version but on TWOP or somewhere I remember them saying that some of the religious content was edited.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but even the first 14 Children and Pregnant again horrified me. First thing they show is the kids in bunk beds squeezed into 2 small bedrooms, and the lines out the door since they only had 2 bathrooms. They moved onto Michelle proudly crowing that "the new baby is my buddy til IT's weaned and then IT goes to whoever's turn it is to get a buddy"..and showing 6 year old JoyAnna dressing her buddy, 11 year old Jenna teaching one, the girls making all the meals, Joshua, age 16 (who was pretty cute back then) and John, age 14, doing dangerous construction on the Tinker Tot house...Michelle dragging the 9 oldest to Aldi and the poor kids lugging all of the food inside (Joyanna wrangling a case of tomatoes at age 6)..and the idiot narrator giving the voiceover about how much the family had in common with the Waltons and that we could all learn something from them. Very inspiring

When I first saw 14CAP, I was a bit annoyed with Michelle talking about the buddy system. I watched that doc a couple of years back and I was horrified by some of the things that you mentioned. Comparing the Duggars to the fictional Walton family was just stupid. The Walton family didn't have a double digit number of kids and the Walton kids were raised to be individuals.

And the Walton parents were bound and determined to see that all 7 of their kids received educations.

I think that is something that bothers me about this whole fundy thing. The idea that education is almost sinful and we will only do it cause the state makes us. In the past, which these people think was the poop, Education was very high on the list that people wanted, respected and felt that the needed.

This annoys me to no end. I think they are so against education - esp higher education - because it teaches people to THINK. Think too much and you'll think your way out of fundy-ism. Any girl would figure out it sucks for sure. It's not even all that great for the guy - imagine the pressure to support that many people on your salary alone!

I attended a Church of Christ and was definitely the freak for getting degrees instead of marrying and popping out babies right out of high school. Of course, it's also one of the churches that worships Paul (women be silent in church, etc).

I heard that in one of their older specials, Jim Bob mentioned "sin in the camp" and turned to Josh afterwards when he said it. Does anyone know if there's any truth to that? I know after the older specials were re-aired, they edited out some contents so I'm not sure if this was just a made up rumor or it really was mentioned before it was edited out.

Which, if you know a bit about culture, Paul could've easily said the same thing to men, because back then you had women on one side and men on the other, so if a wife wanted to ask the hubby a question, she'd have had to shout over to him, which would've disrupted the service. Paul just specified women because of the cultural climate, but really, in context, it applies equally to both genders.

And aren't the Waltons fictional?

This was pre-free modesty wear bathing suits, so it's not like they could do much else.

Is that the one where they went to Coronado beach here in San Diego?

In the original show, JB says they are Quiverful. However, it's been edited since then and that has been cut. I am sure there are other things that were edited out, but that one is the one that sticks out for me.

Wow, he openly stated that they were quiverfull? I knew there was the link on their website back in the day, but I didn't know that he admitted it.

Yup, that is before they were famewhoring and riding the TLC gravy train. I remember him explaining it and thinking "OMG! They are CRAZY!"
