The Death Of Pretty-Innocent Women

Pretty, pretty is dying.

People will define pretty differently. For the purposes of this piece, I define pretty as a mutually enriching balanced combination of beauty and projected innocence

What is pretty depends on the viewer. However, the writer's defnition is unique and not one that I have read before.

Once upon a time, women wanted to project an innocence. I am not idealizing another age and I have no illusions about the virtues of our grandparents, concupiscence being what it is. But some things were different in the back then. First and foremost, many beautiful women, whatever the state of their souls, still wished to project a public innocence and virtue. And that combination of beauty and innocence is what I define as pretty.

Unlike Burris, I do not have the skill to logically tear apart articles and point out where they fail. However, I grew up knowing that women were often seperated into sluts and good girls. This was unfair to women and not pretty.

By nature, generally when men see this combination in women it brings out their better qualities, their best in fact. That special combination of beauty and innocence, the pretty inspires men to protect and defend it.

In other words, if women act in a manner that this man wants, they will be protected. Step outside that boundary and men will consider you unworthy of respect or polite behavior.

Young women today do not seem to aspire to pretty, they prefer to be regarded as hot. Hotness is something altogether different. When women want to be hot instead of pretty, they must view themselves in a certain way and consequently men view them differently as well.

Oh for goodness sakes. Another man who is threatened by a woman's sexuality. A hot woman is something that a man isn't controlling. Although being 'hot' can be as simple as wearing a skirt that is a little too short.

Are men such shallow people that they can't understand that people deserve respect for being human? Really? I find that I have a higher regard for men than most conservative Christians.

Of course men play a role in this as well, but women should know better and they once did. Once upon a time you would hear girls talk about kind of women men date and the kind they marry. You don’t hear things like that anymore.

Why would we want to go back to a time when slut shaming was even more accepted?

The reason that you don't hear about the type of women that men marry is because modern women have choices. We don't have to marry if we don't wish. And when we marry, we can pick men who respect us as human beings and not value us merely for the presence of a thin piece of skin.

Read the article but it will probably annoy you. By the way, I linked to it from Ladies Against Feminism which goes to show how female hating that they actually are.

This whole take-down is awesome but I thought this part was especially pithy:

Hear, hear!

Thank you! I can't imagine why any woman would cheer a man who wanted to bring back the seperation of women into marriagable women and whores that the man can use for sex. That system is very dehumanizing.

It is so easy for a woman to end up falling into the role of bad girl. A woman might never have had sex but if she dresses wrong, comes from the wrong family or race than she can become one of the wrong sort of women.

This. I am still a virgin in every way possible because I suck at getting men to be interested in anything past friendship apparently. If I wear something form fitting and maybe a little low-cut up top-assuming that I am slut or trying to not be "pretty" would be a very poor judgment on my character and certainly my sexuality. Just like if I wear a turtleneck and comfortably fit blue jeans doesn't mean I am a prude either. I am neither a slut nor am I "good" girl. Somewhere in-between. Being a virgin at my age (23 this month) doesn't mean I am prude at all-I am certainly not. ;)

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
