I think someone came here and scolded CJ for causing problems at her blog. A blogger who is an AA woman married to a caucasian man sticks in my mind. I seem to remember that CJ had some very ugly racial beliefs at one time, although I think she renounced those or most of them by the time she participated here. I also seem to recall some involvement by the woman's daughter. . .

Over at SFL. I lurked there at about the time she phased out here and she had drama, there as well. I do not recall her ID there, though....and I don't know if she is still there because I do not lurk anymore.....but it was pretty much the same sort of drama as here.

Ah, how I miss Katy-Anne. She has a long and storied fundie history all over the internet. She was on Bro. Randy's site "Teens-4-Christ" (I may have written that wrong; I know there's a site with a similar name), and got quoted on FSTDT a lot. And yes, I'm pretty sure she was also around the internet as "Mrs. W." And of course here she was Confused Jezebel.

I'm happy if she's growing and changing her beliefs, but there's no denying she's a rather famous name in anti-fundie circles (for having been such a crazy fundie at one time).

I haven't seen these.....

Hi, my name is Joe

and I work in a button factory

I have a wife and a dog and a family

One day, my boss came up to me and said

Hey Joe, are you busy

I said no.

Then turn this button with your right hand.....

repeat top then

left hand

right foot

left foot

tongue

head

all while doing the motions. I think the grups would get a good laugh watching the kids do this (usually around the campfire) b/c how nutty it would look by the 4th verse or so.

And then there was the Girl Scout song about the traits of Girl Scout based on the letters

She's got a G for generosity.....I can't remember most of the rest. But I *do* remember the version for food.....lol

She's got a G for German chocolate cake

I for ice cream too

R for royal gelatin

L for lemonaid...for lemonaid

S for her spaghetti

C for cupcakes too (cookies? maybe. it would fit the GS thing better lol)

O-U-T for outdoor food, outdoor food

you can bet she's a real big scout!

Yeah, slightly offensive. :?

Glad for the reminder of all the fun songs here - can't wait to teach my niece!

We did that one except ours was:

Hello, my name is Joe

I have a house

One kid, one spouse,

I work in a button factory

One day, my boss came up to me

Hey Joe,

Are you busy?

I said no

He said push this button with your right elbow

It would repeat with:

left elbow

right knee

left knee

head bone

butt bone

I love this one! I've never met anyone else who'd heard it before... My auntie from the UK taught me a slightly different one. You have to imagine it sung with a Yorkshire accent. :)

Each verse, the number of children increases, followed by left hand, right foot, left foot (you have to sit down to sing this!) and finishing with your forehead. On the last verse, when the boss asks if you're busy, you yell "YES!"

I taught this to my 6 year old nephew, who thinks it's the funniest song EVER. Thankfully, I don't get sick of singing it!

Now why didn't I know cute songs like that when I was younger? I think the closest thing we had was the tv show The Wiggles but that was around closer to when my nephews were born (late 90's). That song is really cute though :D I'll have to teach it to my two great nephews.

I've read not only this thread but the seminal underlying thread as well. After having done so, of course I feel compelled to participate. Only I have nothing to say.

Oh, one kids' thing I remember that I don't think has been mentioned --

Stella-elle-olla

quack, quack, quack

est-ce chigo chigo

say chigo chigo quack quack

velow, velow, velow, velow, velow

....

said while preparing for a thumb war.

I just realized while typing it out, I have no idea what any of it means. Is some of it supposed to be Spanish or some other language?

I had completely forgotten that one! I'm from the south so no Yorkshire accent but we did sing it!

We had this skipping rhyme where you would select a boy from the class and sing:

(Boy's name) took me to Hollywood and sat me on his knee

Said to me, "Will you marry me?"

Yes, no, yes, no, yes!

(if you missed on the no you would swap with another girl and if you missed on the yes you stayed skipping).

What kind of ring did you have?

Ruby

Diamond

Plastic

Elastic?

What did you wear to your wedding?

Lace

Satin

Loo roll?

And then it would go on where you went on your Honeymoon and what kind of bed you had...it all got a bit silly after that!

I can't believe no one's mentioned:

Boom boom ain't it great to be--crazy!

Boom boom ain't it great to be nuts

Giddy and foolish all the day long

Boom boom ain't it great to be--crazy

And it's many, many accompanying verses. A couple of my favourites:

I bought a set of combination underwear

Can't get it off I do declare

Wore it six months without exaggeration

I can't get it off 'cause I lost the combination!

I love myself, I think I'm grand

And when I go to the movies I hold my hand

I put my arm around my waist

Ans when I get fresh I slap my face!

Also, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that our version of "Miss Suzy" was actually "Miss Molly."

There was also something similar (I think) that involved a bathtub drain...

eta: the best children's song of all time is Little Bunny Foo-Foo.

Just popping in to say, I personally think my beloved Bumble Bee song is still #1, but Little Bunny Foo-Foo is a close second.

No one else sang "The Princess Pat?" It's a call and answer one, where one person sings a line and then another person/people repeat it. There's gestures that go with it and you dance crazy every time you say "rigabamboo."

The Princess Pat

Lived in a tree

She sailed across

The seven seas

She sailed across

The channel two

And took with her

A rigabamboo!

A rigabamboo!

Now what is that?

It's something made

By the Princess Pat

It's red and gold

And purple too

That's why it's called

A rigabamboo!

Now Captain Jack

Had a mighty fine crew

He sailed across

The channel two

But his ship sank

And so will you

If you don't take

A rigabamboo!

I remember that song from when I was a kid in Florida. We didn't have a proper playground (it was all over blacktop), so we did a lot of singing and jump roping during recess which led to me having a disturbingly vast knowledge of those little songs to this very day :P

Did anyone else sing this one? I don't know how the name is spelled so I just spelled it phonetically:

Person 1: My name is Yan Yonsen

I come from Wisconsin

I work in the lumberyard there

The people I meet as I walk down the street

Say Hello!

Person 2: Hello!

Person 1: What's your name?

Person 2: My name is Yan Yonsen, I come from Wisconsin....

Repeat until your mother threatens to smack all of you.

No one has mentioned the old lady who swallowed a fly...

I was singing this at top volume, Thursday night, to try to prevent the meltdown in the back seat.

It kinda worked.

We sang that in Brownies! I was trying to remember the words the other day!
