I do understand how it ended up so tumultuous though. Don't mess with my kid (on either side of the argument).

So THAT was the peanut butter war! I had just assumed it was smooth vs. crunchy.

Peanuts have been banned from schools, daycares and camps here for several years, so using peanut butter was never an option for us.

On one hand, I know a pediatric allergy specialist who has said that the new thinking is that babies SHOULD be exposed to peanuts, since lack of exposure seems to result in more cases of peanut allergies.

OTOH, my niece has a peanut allergy, and just had a reaction while traveling with us last month due to chicken schnitzel being fried in peanut oil. The poor kid had trouble breathing, vomitted twice, got an Epi-pen injection and had to be rushed to the nearest urgent care center.

I just went back and read the entire thread. I wasn't a huge contributor, but in reading what I wrote, it's possible I might have been high that day. Accidentally or something. Maybe I was sick and taking large quantities of Nyquil. Just sayin'.
