You must have missed the part where Jim Bob said that all girls would love for their husband to sing to them at their wedding...possibly if that girls is not marrying Josh 'The Burger' Duggar.

It irritates me that they act like all the kids are so musically talented. Jill was okay, though you can't really tell much because what she and Jinger were doing was very simple, but you could really tell that Jinger doesn't know how to play very well.

Josh was in tune and everything, but he just seemed so hammy that it was hard to watch.

Anybody want to tell them about Woody Guthrie who wrote "This land is your land"?

Anybody?

Or give them the lines to the verse that most rightwingers like to pretend doesn't exist?

As I went walking, I saw a sign there,

And on that sign there, it said "no trespassing".

But on the other side, it didn't say nothin'

That side was made for you and me.

Arlo always includes it when it sings it.

This^^^^. Not too long ago I saw a repeat in which the kids were on stage in some megachurch playing their violins. I can tell you that my kids' old Suzuki teacher would have died instantly to hear how out of tune they were. She harped and harped on intonation, with good reason because it's so important. Sheesh--tune up! What is the point of sawing away on the damn things if everyone is so far out of tune they don't sound like they're playing the same note?

Wow, that was, uh, special.... The worst part about it, he must think he's a good singer to volunteer to do that. Oh, poor Joshie-boy, you are so oblivious.

He just seemed so smarmy and full of himself. He reminded me of the overstuffed mayor from "Groundhog Day," a big blowhard.

Just because you hit notes doesn't mean that you can sing well.

And really, singing while reading the words off your iPhone? Tacky.

Ok I'm gonna give the Smuggar some credit (mind you I only observed mere seconds of the performance) but he did do it straight up sober.

I would have had to have had more than a few in me to bellow that dramatically in public. I also would have sung the national anthem that Woody wrote for all of us.

OMG, how forced is his voice? He reminds me of when someone is joking and being silly trying to imitate an opera singer or something!!!

and I agree, how classy to be reading lyrics off your freaking iphone...

I only eat Chik-Fil-A when its free(which, where Im from, thats a usual occurrence because they sponsor every little thing) so as to not fund their ridiculous ideology. And I go through the drive through so I dont have to stand and look at all their "keep jesus in our schools" and "why we're closed on Sundays" posters.

someone please tell me that was a joke..holy shit, that is the worst singing/music i have heard in quite some time..its almost like when your kid is in band class, and it sounds BAD, really bad. (not picking on my kid, but middle school band classes are renowned for sounding horrific)

Love the young lady holding the "I *heart* the Duggar's" [sic] sign. SODRT at its (or "it's" in their world) finest!

Oh FFS! I can't believe they think they sound good enough to present that shit. C'mon man!

Consider the audience. 80% of them were minors, likely homeschooled fundies. Greenville isn't the most liberal of places.

I think his singing at his wedding was horrifying enough.

Yup, that was horrible! If my bf did that at our wedding I'd laugh so hard! And no, JB, that ain't the secret wish of every women (to have her new hubby sing to her at the wedding).

I've tweeted Smugs a bio on Woody Guthrie and threatened to play that thing for my husband if he pisses me off over the weekend. He begged me: "NO DUGGAR VIOLINS!!!!"

I kind of offends me that these conservative fuckheads have highjacked a song that really was written in the spirit of liberty for everyone, the complete antithesis of what fundies stand for. I have to try and laugh at it, otherwise it just makes me smad (mad and sad).

Also, it triggered flashbacks of Smugs singing the Loyalty song. barf.

I hate how fundies think that people who don't believe exactly the way that they do are against family values. I think most of us value families, regardless of religious and spiritual beliefs.

I also couldn't take much of Josh's singing. I had to break open this bottle of pinot that I was saving to celebrate my birthday. Oh well. He didn't even know the lyrics to the songs and was constantly looking at his iphone. JimBoob was acting his usual pompous self. And Michelle needs to retire that green shirt. I think TLC money can afford her a new shirt.
