Gay Quiverfull Men

so what percentage of Quiverfull men do you think are big homophobes due the fact they are gays? my bet is on at least 10% :D

My guess is a lot more than 10%. They researched it, straight men who had no problem with gay men were less likely to be aroused by gay porn than straight men who were vehemently opposed to gay men.

Probably the same as the average for QF men in general, but for the true crazies (like the PP, whom we have long suspected) it's much higher. I'm not fond of the homophobe= gay thing, because although it is sometimes true, people are way too quick to jump to it, and homophobia is of course caused by many different things- but in some cases it is pretty clear.

I think Quiverfull men are homophobic simply because their belief system requires that they be homophobic, just like it requires that they deny evolution and oppose abortion.

But I have thought that the QF movement would be a great place for a closeted man to hide. What better way to "prove" that you are straight? Nobody would think to question the heterosexuality of a man who regularly knocks up his wife. Plus, Quiverfull men probably end up having less sex than men in normal marriages, since their wives might not feel like having sex during certain stages of their pregnancies, and also since they must follow the 40/80 day rule after each birth.

Ha, I thought this was referring to gay male couples who followed the quiverfull philosophy, and I was trying to imagine how that would work. I suppose there is that one gay couple (in Arizona?) with 12 kids, and probably other couples like that, but that's not quite the same as being quiverfull.

The rate in the general population is 10%, so it is definitely higher than that among Quiverfullers. I also suspect there are a lot of bi men who really do have the choice to play straight because they truly are attracted to women but feel ashamed of their attraction to men.

My husband is from a macho, Italian, devout Catholic, pretty conservative family and none of them are homophobes. Not even my 70-something father in law. The men are all like, "Sure, gay marriage, if it makes them happy, why should I care?" Because they are very far into or at least comfortably within the heterosexual side of the sexuality spectrum. That is how men who are comfortable in their sexuality act.

I think a lot of closeted gay men are attracted to homophobia. The outside (gay hating) matches their inside (hatred of gay self). A completely straight man has nothing to fear from homosexual rights. Nothing to fear from gay marriage, nothing to worry about. If you are happy with your wife and kiddos, who cares what someone else does in their own bedroom?

If this makes no sense, well, I can clarify tomorrow when the drinks have worn off.

I'm thinking the "submissive wife who won't out man them" probably attracts a lot of homophobes too. They need a little (or a lot) extra weak and helpless female to feel like they are "all man".

I can't recall the exact study, but results showed that the more male babies a woman carried in utero, the woman's imune system would "attack" the 'thing with the Y chromosome', de-masculating the fetus. So if a man comes from a large family, and he is one of the younger ones, his change of being gay is higher than that of a first born. Does this make sense?

Since quiverfull families have so many children, I'm excited to see what the children turn out to be 10 years from now... Cute little Jackson Duggar is my pick ;) I can see him on Broadway! The next Neal Patrick Harris!!

Um, I believe in this case "de-masculate" is used to describe a process by which certain parts of the brain develop in a way that is more similar to a female brain than a male brain (i.e. that one part, can remember what it's called, is smaller in women and gay men than it is in straight men) not how manly someone is.

That's true, especially if the closeted man (Pissing Preacher) finds his wife in another country and converts her to Christian fundamentalism, it's easy, especially if he doesn't allow her to cut her hair or wear makeup.

I have always thought that the bigger mouth they open against homosexuals, the more they are afraid of something. Interesting how many men have no problem living with gay people, couples, or even a house full of gay people. And they don't feel like they have to open their mouth to speak crap and prove the world - or themselves?! - that they are not gay because "itts rong". I've seen real macho men hanging around with gay dudes and nobody assumed there was something between them. (Furthermore, we thought he loved how girls gathered around the feminine guy:)

Another thought: I don't know what I did if anyone mocked my kid if he was gay. I would not handle it the most adult and mature ways I'm sure. But at least, I'd settle the little misunderstanding very soon, along with their idiotic parents who they probably learned the homophobia from.
