Somehow I doubt they're using actual Campbell's cream soups, but the generic store-brand instead which usually tastes completely shitty.

They could make their own cream soups with real cream and save money, calories, and salt. I guess J'chelle never thought to have the J'slaves make food from scratch?

Oh that is a keeper! Maybe that's what's going on here. Explains a lot. I all of a sudden want to hang out with them now.

I love all the snarking but really, if someone cannot cook. Why embarrass themselves by posting HORRIBLE recipes. It would be like me giving driving lessons, except even that would be less deadly.

Two. Pounds. Of Cheese.

:?

I can feel my arteries clogging up.

Velveeta's not even real cheese, it's processed cheese food. As a native Wisconsinite, I find it especially disgusting.

GAH! Seriously why can't they make a simple yet decent quesadilla. Using REAL pesto and then some chicken an maybe some low fat cheese... or even make a sundried tomato one !? Those are usually my simple go to meal when its busy!

Poor Man's Pizzas

ShareThis

Variation #1

20 flour tortillas

1 jar spaghetti sauce

4 c. shredded cheddar cheese (or mexican blend)

Spread spaghetti sauce on each tortilla. Sprinkle with cheese. Warm on plate in microwave for 1 min.

If you had that stuff, why would you bother to make "poor man's pizzas"? Just fold the cheese over in the tortilla, warm in a pan on both sides for a couple of minutes, then spread a layer of salsa on top if you're so inclined. No need to cook anything in the microwave, and that salsa might actually have vegetables in it. Even the cheap lunchables can do better than that.

IMO, a lot of the food they make doesn't necessarily sound that bad if you made in once in awhile, for a holiday or special occasion. I've actually seen those haystack things at a lot of potlucks, and while they're nothing special they certainly won't kill anyone. I've had velveeta-rotel dip that you put on chips, and it's really good. Any of it might be ok in small doses, but I doubt that's what the Duggars (and especially J&A) are doing. The one thing that grossed me out more than anything about the chickenetti was the fact that Anna claimed you could cook the chicken in the microwave :puke-front: As a single person, I use my microwave a lot, especially for heating leftovers, but it's rarely the optimal way to cook anything. I don't even like to thaw chicken in the microwave because it has a weird taste afterwards, and I am far from a gourmet. If you have the resources, why not do it better?

Seriously. A person would need bypass surgery after eating that just once.

What I don't understand is that even CHICKEN and MILK (evaporated) comes from a can? Where they live, they not only have one of the most successful chicken companies (Tyson), but they have a pretty decent Milk industry (subsidized by the federal gov't). They can't spend $2 on a gallon of REAL milk??

Real food would make the kids think that food grows on trees and the world revolves around them. Just like new shoes and underwear. Since they cannot buy used food (brain bleech pls, and it was my own fault) they have to make it as humble as possible.

The food network magazine has great recipes. I don't think the FN is Duggar approved however, the magazine has same sex couples sharing their recipes. It might burn holes in their stomachs.
