How does VF explain away their unmarried interns?

The issue of marriage as "normativity" and "non-normativity" which is understood at sin at Vision Forum (on that dead horse KiSA thread) brings up a question I have.

Not all of these interns or young men get married, and there are a couple who could marry and haven't yet.

If marriage is a necessity and childbearing is the point of it all, how do some of these guys get away with it? Aren't they sinning? Or does Paul's preference that those who want to serve God remain unmarried apply to them, but it is magically not applicable to anyone else?

Does anyone at Vision Forum ever bring this up and how do they deal with it? Or are the ones who are unmarried considered to be a part of a protected and special class, and they are above the law?

Thats the problem with VF and the QF movement in general. In order for there to be a national presence there needs to be an organization (for dougie and the like to earn $$$$$$$$$$$). The organization needs workers and interns to be the face of the organization, something to strive for to perpetuate it. BUT in order to have these role models you have to delay marriage and procreation, which is the whole heart of the movement.

In the end its all about money and not god... so they bend the rules.

I'm wondering whether male homosociality (not to be confused with homosexuality) is given a major pass in Dougie's He-Man Women Haters' Club, in part because of what Paul had to say about singlehood.

A bit OT: As someone on another thread once pointed out, the Dougie fanboy subculture seems to be based more on the classical Greek male homosocial cultural structure than on Old-Testament patriarchy. (Deep apologies for the hella-awkward sentence there.)

I'm wonder what happens to unmarried daughters or sons in Quiverfull/Vision Forum? what do they say about spinsters and bachelors? and what does VF even teach about kids with disabilities?

Do I smell hypocrisy going on? or do they have another excuse for women/men who didn't get married and remained spinsters/bachelors?

My guess is that if the boys got married, they'd neglect their VF duties and expect to be paid more (do they get paid now?) I think that if this movement last long-term, it will be modified to specifically form a celibate priest class to handle certain duties. That way they can devote 24/7 to the job and will only need enough money to buy food for themselves.

For all the young adults that are unmarried, it's easy for parents to just brush it off as not being God's will. He works in mysterious ways, yadda yadda yadda. God wants them to have tons of babies, but in his infinite wisdom, he has decided that the Duggar, Botkin, and other daughters should stay at home a while longer to support their fathers. The parents can just shrug and say that God hasn't sen the right spouse yet, or that they felt God telling them to wait awhile longer. I would like to see someone ask Michelle "What about those poor little babies that will never be born because Jana isn't married yet?", but it will never happen.

I first saw the term "normativity" on Dougie's blog back in 2006 (re: the Peter Bradrick/Kelly Brown nuptials), and read it as code for "heterosexuality."

It's ironic, isn't it? Despite Doug's obvious love of the term, all those photogenic, single male VF interns are much, much too busy working on their terribly, terribly demanding and important careers serving him - they couldn't possibly devote any of that time to thoughts of independent adulthood, courtship, love, or (gasp) sex.

And no one needs a crystal ball to predict the bleak future of daddy-worship and servitude that awaits the unmarried young women of fundie-land.

Silly FJ's, they are preparing to be faithful leaders for god, their future wifes whom they are praying for day and night and their unborn quiver. :naughty:

IIRC, the interns get paid a small allowance. And since they always seem to live in the same appartment/house, housing may be included, too.

And: IIRC, someone back in the 1st brigade days, I think it was either CSH or ND wrote on his blog how wrong it is to purposely delay marriage.

Edit to add. Have we ever discussed Wesley Strackbein? He appears to be unmarried and well into his 30s.
