The Birthday Elliptical

I've been wondering awhile now about Michelle's "birthday elliptical." The one she uses for an hour a day. The one that was at the center of her defense, on the Today show, of why she was actually in good shape to carry J'fetus.

Did they buy it used and save the difference? Does Michelle wear a skirt to work out on it? And, most of all--is anyone but Michelle allowed to touch it??

What do we think?

My votes are:

No (did they buy it used)

Yes (does she wear a skirt on it), and

HELLS NO (to anyone else being allowed on it)

I'm in total agreement with holierthanyou. Though, I could see the howler monkeys and some of the younger girls using it as a jungle gym. Michelle pays so little attention to them I doubt she would notice.

I just don't know how anyone could stand to work out in a skirt. I know I couldn't. Sports bra and shorts for me on the treadmill.

Although, Michelle is doing better than I am if she's on that thing for an hour a day, for what, 5 days a week? 6?

I'm up to 40 minutes, 4-5 days a week on the treadmill.

Love, love, love my treadmill

I bet the kids would rather Michelle spend that hour a day with them instead of on the elliptical. Why can't she go for a brisk walk with one of the kids instead? Or get a jogging stroller to take one of the toddlers? If Michelle really has an hour available every day for this, then those J'slaves are doing even more than I realized. Most mothers with only a 1-3 kids don't have an extra hour every single day unless it's a hobby.

An hour a day of elliptical sounds sooooooooooooo boring. I can barely handle 30 minutes before I get seriously bored.

I'm a childless full time student/part time worker and I don't have enough time to work out for a full hour a day every single day of the week

I agree. And of course she wears a skirt on it!

DH and I both watch DVD's while we're on the treadmill. No commercial and entertainment are the only way I get through it. Oh yeah, and sprints//changing incline/changing speeds....otherwise it's just damn boring.

For me, running/working out is a priority, so I tend to make the time however busy things get (and they have gotten busy over the years!). It does mean I trade some early morning sleep to do it, though. That is not a sacrifice worth it for everyone! However, I am not sure how someone with as many young kids as Michelle finds the time (oh, wait, I do, her older kids are raising the young ones!).

The treadmill is not my favourite, as I definitely prefer being outside, but in winter here it is a must for me due to extreme dark/ice/frostbite risk (and since I have had if before, it does not take much!). Music, tv, movies and changing speed and incline frequently helps the time pass (and I am usually on there for about 60-75 minutes or so before doing a bit of weights).

When i was trying to get pregnant for the first time, i was doing an hour on the elliptical. I made sure to go to the gym at the time that my reality TV show vice was on (The Batchelor), and once it was over, i'd hop off. :D it was totally indulgent. Hee.

I highly doubt that anyone aside from J'uterus is allowed to touch the thing.

Yeah I am never willing to give up sleep  However I try to work out 3-4 days a week, but 7 is a huge commitment for anyone, especially a lady with 20 kids.

There was already a stairstepper in that back room prior to the elliptical. Did they trade that in or has Grandma been moved to the Laundry Room?
