Miss Raquel Gave Into Temptation!

Wow, I bet she ate that last piece of pie her husband wanted. GASP!

But she loves the Chronicles Of Narnia so I can't snark her too much.

She loves the Narnia series? That's surprising, usually the fundies I meet condemn Narnia for its pagan elements and turning Jesus into a talking lion.

Fundies don't usually like fantasy because they think fairies, witches, talking animals etc. belong to the devil. Heck, Becky Fischer from Jesus camp said Disney shows witchcraft to kids.

I did mention a vibrator in the last thread. Maybe she took the hint. One can only hope.

She probably gave into the temptation of googling it.

what about vanity, with the million photos of herself? But she gave into that already about a million times.

I'm also thinking it might be masturbation, or maybe even less than that-like reading or thinking of something that made her aroused.

You all are so tame, my first thought was she had sex with a stranger, got pregnant and had a secret abortion. Hmmm, I think I better tone it down a bit here.

I thought Narnia books were okay as they were filled with Christian symbolism? Now The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullmann is supposed to be anti religious. He even stated that his trilogy was about killing god in an interview.

In my experience, fundie-lites love stuff like Narnia and LotR but not other fantasy. I even know some who are into Harry Potter, though that's rare. The full-on fundies usually dislike fantasy of any kind.

My parents went pretty overboard with that stuff. I was shocked when they let me read Narnia because I thought magic was always terrible. I felt guilty for reading fairy tales and stuff like Edward Eager and E. Nesbit but I loved it. I felt super guilty when I started reading Harry Potter, and my mom was absolutely shocked when she found out (thanks to some incredibly obnoxious toddler siblings who brought all my library books to her).

I bet she read something bad. I remember feeling quite guilty as a (fundie-lite raised, anxiety disorder-ridden) teenager when I read dirty things (i.e. romance novels or dirty fan fic).

I think you've mixed Miss Raquel up with somebody else. Raquel is an unmarried teenager. She does love Narnia though, at least the movies.

Maybe she realized that she had given Michael Buble a piece of her heart?

Honestly, Miss Raquel is such a silly kid that it could be anything.

Please please PLEASE let it be the Hello Kitty vibrator.

[not Googling for a link on the work wifi, but it's out there, I promise you.]

Maybe she watched porn

No, I guess it was either a kiss or masturbation. A girl has needs, 17 is an age of raging hormones still, especially when you never got to do anything before that.

I had a big, big argument with my mother when she found out I had been watching porn when I was 19. Rather unpleasant.

Have any of you caught Raquel's mother's blog? She chronicles the birth of her latest kid, with photos of the bloody kiddie pool she delivered in with the placenta in a metal mixing bowl. That just made me nauseated.

According to this latest blog post, Raquel apparently gave into some kind of "temptation."

Reading between the lines, I'm going to guess that the sin was masturbation. I was raised fundie medium, and I went through a very similar struggle when I was about 17. What she wrote sums up pretty eloquently the feelings I had. It's amazing how much stigma the fundie community puts on something as natural as masturbation. I don't like her much, but I feel for her...it sucks to feel so guilty about something so normal.
