Greatest Duggar Hypocrisies

What in your opinion is the greatest hypocrisy/lie/load of crap in Duggarland? For me, its when they lied about the owner of the car lot when all of us publicly educated people can do record searches.

No dating, no kissing when the parents did both and it worked out, apparently, just fine........

The boys can do all the things the girls do....then when they moved to Little Rock and the girls went home to get stuff they forgot and they find rotten fruit and one of the girls excuses the guys saying "they're boys" and when asks she says "no, I wouldn't expect boys to notice" stuff like xmas decorations still up in February and rotten fruit etc.

Where do you start?

Being Anti-TV

Not telling their kids what sex is when they obviously love it

All the lies they tell in the "As us" segments, like

- Kids have a choice to go to college

- Girls can get jobs (ha!)

- The older girls are not slaves and it's all voluntary

I really, really, really hope they won't have to shoot a "Duggars say Goodbye to baby" episode. :?

I feel the "no tv, no internet" is pretty much a lie. I guess they can justify it as not a lie because it's technically vhs/dvds the children are always watching (e.g. monki see monki do). No internet also seems unlikely, given all the online course work the children do in lieu of school.

I have no problem with "real" homeschooling where adults are teaching children in the home, but I roll my eyes at this practice of sitting your children in front of a tv or computer screen and then calling it 'education'.

As for "no TV" thing, I remember Mullet saying in an interview once that the reason the family didn't have cable was because it would be like having garbage delivered to your home. I laughed when I read that because Mullet probably doesn't realize that part of the reason the TLC show exists is because of cable and satellite subscribers.

Using the "we know it's not for everyone" * insert sickeningly sweet patronizing smile* spiel to say "we're right and you are wrong!"

Buy used and save the difference;

That they built the TTH themselves;

Leave and cleave;

Handing Bible tracts to desperately poor (and Christian) folks in El Salvador and other countries;

Saying they raise the children to have "servant's hearts" and then watching how Josh treats Anna and Jessa/Jinger complaining about having to help at a church fish fry;

Michelle leaving her fragile preemie in the hospital to picket a convenience store selling alcohol;

Constantly talking about how "modest" they are; and

Mother of the Year.

But then if they do they can get another book out of it. :roll: The last book was essentially "All About Josie" with a side of damage control...

I will be extremely pissed off if they exploit something like this for ratings. It actually may be enough to make me throw my tv out of a window. I have said goodbye to baby. Two babies. The thought that anyone could actually use something like that for tv ratings or to gain book sales makes my blood boil. :angry-screaming:

'Goodbye to Michelle' is an equally likely outcome. Followed quickly by 'Hello to Wife #2'. :cry:

I don't think so. I really don't. I think two of the older girls would stay and raise the kids.

Oh the J'salves will always be raising kids, no doubt. But JB seems the type that would be desperate to replace the companionship. Plus, thanks to modesty, we know he hasn't gone more than 80 days w/o getting laid since he was 19. He has needs! The allure of having 30 or 40 kids total will draw him into marrying an Erin Bates type toot sweet!

How does Josh treat Anna? I've never actually watched the show except for a couple of snippets on YouTube. One thing that struck me was that they're all so goofy.

I agree with what PPers have said. One thing that really made my blood boil was when Jim Bob says that overpopulation is one of the greatest myths of our time. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, yes, Jim Bob, just like the people who say the Holocaust never happened, too. Way to completely try and change reality to suit your needs.

The overpopulation myth comment was one of the most cringe worthy things Boob has said on the show. He probably doesn't know that he got laughed at on several sites. People on IMDB and twop in addition to FJ also laughed at him.

Just thought about one more.

The girls are allowed to wear skirts that only fall to the knee. The guys can't wear shorts at all, even though it's hard to find guys' shorts that come above the knee now. wtf?

Kitty! Stop using logic. Jesus doesn't like that...

Oh yeah, they aren't allowed to show their knees EXCEPT in those swimming costumes?

:lol: Swimming costumes. My boyfriend also called them swimming costumes when he watched that episode with slip 'n slide.

On their wedding night, Anna carried the luggage to the hotel room;

Knowing she was afraid of heights, Josh forced Anna to ride a ferris wheel and pretended to dangle Mack over the side;

Josh took a nap while Anna was in active labor with. Michael;

Numerous shots of Josh talking to the camera while Anna does chores or loads luggage into the car;

Etc.

      Stupid loneliness!
      Kid 1 went back to college (yeah! But sad foe me, she stayed with me all summer. It was nice to start a new phase in our mother/daughter relationship)
      Zero prospects on dates. (Not that I have tried online dating, scared of that but I have reached put to a new group at church, etc.
      I asked a friend to go to dinner the other night so I wasn't eating alone, again. The friend had plans, all my friends always have plans. I see stuff on social media, I'm never invited. I'm single, I'm the 3rd or 5th wheel.
      My one parent friend at kid 2's fall sport won't be there because their daughter made varsity (Yeah for her!!! Seriously happy for her. Sad for me for another sport I basically sit alone, did that majority of spring and summer sporting events.)
      And now I'm crying as my mom told me 2 different funny stores that former teachers remembered about my twin. Both stories were about how they got a crack out of my twin's antics (my parents went to a funeral today and saw former colleagues). Teachers remember me (after all I was a twin and teachers' kid) but none would have memorable stories of me.
      I feel invisible.
      Don't worry, this will pass,  it always does. I just need a pity party for a few days. I'm not in anyway going to harm myself. As lonely as I am, I have a very full life I (usually) love. I just needed to vent and cry for a moment.
      If you are still reading this, thanks Fjer. 😊

      Absolutely awful about the fires on Maui. In 2019, I stayed in Lahaina. I liked to sit on the sea wall, which is the only structure left now, and watch the water. People are receiving help, but many had to leave pets. Please donate to the Maui Humane Society, which is leading efforts to find, treat, and reunite pets.

      Nebraska’s new football coach, who is involved in an organization called Man Up Ministries, labels certain players “Alphas” and sometimes “extreme Alphas” and the local paper has a nice piece on why people objecting to the term “alpha male” are wrong and it has a “nice ring”. 🤮🤮🤮🤮
