Double post to add: I find it hilarious that almost every pic in the album with the wedding party was "liked" by someone, but of the post-married pics of Bethany and Danny where they can't keep their hands off each other, only one pic is "liked" - and it's essentially a solo pic of Bethany.

That being said, I do like her dress there and appreciate the lack of sleeves. I would wear something like that.

Her wedding dress is okay. I like the red, but then again I love red and would probably have a wedding gown that has red on it (or is totally red) too, so it's totally personal preference. It's simple, but it's still pretty and not as frumpy as some other fundy wedding gowns I've seen. I think it would actually look okay without the jacket.

I know, I want to cheer for her! This, at the very least, is what I wish for for all those SAHD's - that they marry someone at least a little less fundie than they are. Because then by their own rules their power-tripping fathers can't say jack about it.

Not spotted in photos: Bret, Jaqueline (though she's "liked" most of the photos), Alan, Katie, Kressant (also "liked" stuff), Rachel, Dorothy, any of their husbands or kids. Likely explanation: the married siblings were too busy chasing after their 50 kids to have any fun and go to the photobooth. Rachel's pregnant to boot. Bret's had some problem with his back, so the parents probably stayed sitting at a table or something. I admit, I am surprised that the pictures of the wedding party didn't include the typical ones with the parents, though. This is why it'll still be interesting to see the candids from the actual ceremony and reception. Omg, this crew looks like there might have even been... music. Maybe even pop music!

You know, I can imagine not seeing the 8 millions littles and the marrieds because they may not have even stayed as long at the reception or come early for the photos. Although I think that one baby girl at the photo booth was probably Anna Grace, Katie's littlest. But the Captain himself not appear in any photo's at the transfer of his authority? Shocking.

Random thoughts:

-The red in Bethany's dress was great with her dark hair. I'm not a big fan of the red-black-white combination in clothes, decorations etc. but they did look nice in this wedding. Stylish and wintery at the same time.

-Some of the "porn photos" looked too intimate for my taste (like the 2nd pic). I have absolutely nothing against intimate photos but I would never ever want to publish these kinds of photos of me and my hubby in the Internet for the whole world to see. Too private. I wonder how Captain Bret allowed these to be published... (why is this moron called Captain anyway??)

-The oldest adopted Smith girl at home now (I always forget her name) is beautiful. Totally. Somehow she looks like a really kind person as well.

-Michael Jr. smiles in the pictures!

-I can't help it but I just cannot stand the Robertses... Especially the two oldest boys. They annoy me more than many other fundies combined. That goes for their Dear Daddy as well. He is always skulking in the background of every f*cking photo, like to make sure nothing impure happens between the adult "kids". (and to make my theory wrong he is nowhere to be seen in these wedding photos ;) )

-This actually looked like a nice and fun wedding. If you did not know the whole patriarchy craziness behind these people you might think this was a totally mainstream wedding.

At a quick glance it looks like his sisters were the bridesmaids in sleeveless dresses while the S'Morton ladies attending Bethany had the longer sleeves. That + her sleeveless dress (and I recognize her wedding dress - it's an Alfred Angelo or David's Bridal, forget which, that's been pretty popular.) indicate that maaaaaybe the Lanes are a little fundie lite. Like someone said above, baby steps.

It reminds me of a quote I read from David Chase once regarding the Sopranos - "A.J.'s not going to be citizen-soldier or join the Peace Corps or try to help the world; he'll probably be some low-level movie producer. Dislike the red on the dress, but loves her going-away dress. It looks cute and classy and sooooo normal.

Red on a wedding dress: It is a custom for turkish bride to wear a red waistband to show off that they are still a virgin. But I am 100% positive that Pa Smith didn't know about (almost) following an evil muslim tradition. :shhh:

I somehow didn't realize that the Smiths now have EIGHT adopted kids.

She also mentions Rachel is "farther along than you'd think" which makes me smirk given the amount of time I spent squinting at Rachel pics a few months back.

I just watched a few of Captain Brets videos about marriage and courtship and so on.. really crazy stuff (and he is crazy too) if you asked me. Yet Bethanys weddings appears quite normal and I really hope that this was the first step for her to a less fundie life!!

They all usually announce at or before 12 weeks right? Well we called it, it'd been far too long since she was pregnant.

Could Bethany's dress be second hand? That style (with the red trim and the red down the back) has been around for several years. It also looks a little too big for her in the top. If she purchased it from a bridal shop, wouldn't they have recommended that the dress be tailored to fit her?

No pictures of their first kiss? Or, did they not make a big deal of that?

The dress is strapless, you could see when she reached up in that one picture with bridal party so it's definitely bought, they'd never make a strapless dress.

The wedding kiss is up there in the ceremony pictures, along with some comments on the after photos of them making up for lost time. Nothing mentioning the first kiss though. I'll be honest, with as touchy as they were pre-wedding if they did slip a quick kiss in I wouldn't be shocked.
