Happy_Anabaptist - At this point I hope you're trolling. If you aren't then I really don't understand how one person can contain the amount of self-contradictory cognitive dissonance that you've displayed since you began posting here without imploding. Do you ever examine why you hold the positions that you do? For example - you came in here hollering about the evils of feminism and you didn't even know what it was. Your username says you're happy and your first post said that you're a contented fundie, but then you admitted that you're depressed. If someone dumped a bucket of logic water on your head you would melt.

If you aren't a troll I wish you would educate yourself on the joys of critical thinking. You say that your family wanted you to have an education and that you liked art enough to go to school to learn more about it. If it's true then you probably have the potential to do better than this fuckery you're spewing all over the place.

Shut the fuck up for a little while. Lurk, read, and think. Or continue flailing around and making an ass of yourself. Whichever.

Christians. Everyone knows us as the ones who oppose liberalism, abortion, homosexuality, evolution, secular education and a host of other things. A political force dedicated to standing against the evils in our society and championing the Biblical moral code among the heathen. But we're going about this all wrong.

By focussing our attention on these issues, we as Christians are losing the ability to make a difference, to confront the deeper wrongs at the core of our society. Hearts and minds are being turned against our message as people see us as nothing more than a group of ultra-conservative lobbyists seeking to take away their rights. This is never what Jesus intended and we're doing far more harm than good by bringing the cause of Christ into the political arena.

Separation of church and state is not a bad thing. It was created to preserve both institutions and protect society in general. When that separation is breached, when government begins to interfere in religious matters or the church becomes a political force, chaos can result. Today's Christian fundamentalists, however well-meaning, are closer than ever before to bridging the separation between church and state. When that happens, theocracy is only a step away. There are few things more terrible than human beings distorting and abusing religion to control others for the sake of power.

Have we forgotten that Christianity, at its core, is not a religion at all but a relationship, based on love and free will with our Father in Heaven? We are called to be witnesses, to spread the Good News in our world. But we can't do that if our attention is focused on forcing everyone in our society to conform to God's laws whether they know Him or not. It is because of the relationship we have with God, because of His love and our own free choice, that we obey those laws ourselves. How can we expect unbelievers, who have none of that relationship, to do the same - by force? If so, can we be surprised when they turn from our God in disgust? Love and loyalty cannot be forced, only earned. When Christians forget that fundamental fact, not only do we lose the ability to bring about the changes we long to see in society - not by political might but one soul at a time - but countless hearts could be turned against God due to our own desire for control.

I wrote that, a couple of years ago. Perhaps it might help to explain the apparent cognitive dissonance in what I've said on this thread. Although I just realized I haven't been following my own advice, especially with that feminism stuff.

Haha how could it be a sin to read the Bible? Part of me hopes this blog is real but I suspect not.

Ohhh, this is ringing a bell. I know Joseph Smith didn't like Song of Solomon and didn't see it as inspired, but I think I've actually heard people talk about how singles shouldn't be reading it. I don't think they were actually saying it was a sin to read it at all, just that it's too erotic to spend much time on.

Edit: Okay, yeah, I found a thread on a forum I used to visit where a guy is basically saying that singles shouldn't read SoS. He doesn't say so directly, but suggests that he found it too arousing in his unmarried days.

How many people do you know have sex with people they are not attracted to?

Duh. Self-control. It's no different than Mama Maxwell and her Diet Pepsi.... If you are a man you mustn't make penis your idol!

I agree. I'm calling shenanigans on most of the stuff this person posts anyway.

Oh, cupcake. Not just this thread, pretty much all of them. You're not following your own advice? Ooooh look, there it is again. And "that feminism stuff?" Really? You make me tired.

Fact: am totally drunk on Grey Goose

Fact: am totally in major girl crush mode on Lissar

Fact: HA needs to chill and THINK

that's all

My FJ girl crush changes on a daily basis. This week alone it's been Lissar, Austin, emmyfair, Angri-la, emmiedahl, and Constance Vigilance - and that's just off the top of my head. Thus, the FJ orgy we were planning in the Goal thread.

It's clearly the only solution.
