I suggest an alphabet theme, since many little Duggars/QFs are likely to produce prolifically. I'll start it off with:

A is for Abigail or Andrew

B is for Beatrice or Benjamin

C is for Catherine or Christopher

The goal is to reach 26.

Lizzy, you got the all the "J-names" except Jeffrey and Jason. I cannot believe there is no boy with either name in the Duggar family.

You did get the two best "L-names," Luke and Laura. I assume those would be fundie-approved, since spousal rape is acceptable in certain circles. Maybe a mom watched General Hospital, as a girl. That was the soap, yes?

Oops, did I step over the line?

eheheh

I can't believe there is no Jessica, but three forms of Jana/Johannah/Joy Anna. Isn't it a pretty common name in the US?

ETA: is Jessa a diminutive for Jessica? Yep better go sleeping, forgive me it's the end of the semester.

They were thinking of Jessica for Jennifer but decided it was to close to Jessa which is not short for anything.

I like to play this type of game to fall asleep at night. It requires enough effort to distract me from other thoughts, yet it's repetitive and boring enough to lull me to sleep. I'll pick a category and just go through the alphabet, or even do it backwards.

Speaking of names why is Anna so popular for this set? Why are there so few Elizabeths or Tabithas or Deborahs or Miriams or...? You get the drift.I did find a little Fundie girl named Tirzah once, which is very pretty.

Quick question, as I really don't know - do the Duggars usually know the sex of their kids before birth, by the ultrasound? Or do they choose to not be told?

Meanwhile:

D is for Darius or Dannah

Anna was the prophetess who appeared in the temple when Jesus was being circumsized? Too feminist! I don't think that's it. Maybe because it is an easily spelled palindrome, and they won't have to spend too much SOTDT time on girl names?

I have a really good friend named Xochitl, but she usually spells it Xochi to prevent confusion.

eta I think she pronounces her full name So-CHEEL and the nickname So-chee but not sure

I survived ... Ish. I'm all moved again, another 1500 miles from where the cats and I were living before. I'm in the new apartment, and kitties are adjusting well. I've only cried 6 times since Saturday! #progress.
By the way, sorry about the summer logo swap taking its sweet time. Real life was a little too much and it got forgotten.

A happy summer solstice to all northern hemisphere FJers! And a happy winter solstice to all southern hemisphere FJers! (I know it's already Monday is Australia, so I'm late for most of you.)

ETA--Oh! I just checked, and the winter solstice is at 1:31 PM on Monday, June 21 in Eastern Australia Time. So, for once the time zones worked in my favor. I'm not late!

I'm so angry at the Bishops right now. Shit like this is why I left the Catholic church. They play politics so blatantly.  I hope this convinces more people to leave.

One of my siblings has a work related thing coming up where they get to visit a fundie place. Has promised a detailed rundown of the encounter for me and another sibling via video chat. Not that I am jealous or anything….

My grandmother came from a town in Missouri of (now) population ~14,500 and 8 Baptist churches.  Not counting all the other denominations, that's just the Baptists.
MY grandfather came from Drimoleauge, Ireland which has a current population of ~450 people (not a typo) and 1 church and 5 pubs.
If I get a time machine take a wild guess which ancestors I'm going back to visit?  I'm not social, don't enjoy bars, and prefer to imbibe at home but sitting in a pub has to be better than being Godbothered to death by people pretending they don't drink.
Fun unrelated fact - Martin Luther spent so much time on the toilet he had a desk built so he could work there, and would take meetings while actively pooping.   He also wrote letters to people with vivid descriptions of his poops.   That should make everyone feel a little better about their work place and emails.
