Duggar ?: looking for people with insight and knowledge

I know you have a great deal of knowledge and insight into the Duggar family. Can you take a minute to share some of the with people who are not as well informed? People mistakenly glorify this family when the whole picture really needs to be shown and understood. Ignorance has the potential to do more harm than good.

This is part of one of the comments and there are 2 pages of them. Did I break up the link right?

"Michelle’s older kids are free to leave if they want. No one is forcing them to stay there and raise their siblings. One daughter is thinking of going to college for nursing, and they would be free to leave to marry or pursue their education. The older Duggar boys also contribute to the household. They don’t care for the young babies, but they have their “jurisdictions†and contribute, in addition to holding down jobs outside the home because they opted not to go to college. Michelle doesn’t just hand over her babies when they turn one. She is instrumental in raising all her kids, and the results speak for themselves. Yes, her older kids help with childcare. But that doesn’t mean that she just hands them over and ignores them once they’re out of infancy. If every single one of her kids over age 14 left the house today, she would be able to manage the kids she has left. She has four children under 5 (including the baby on the way), and then a few more between the ages of 6 and 12. It would be hard, but she could do it. "

Um, that's pretty much what we do here. Anyone is free to come here and read any of our many threads regarding the Duggars.

It would be pointless to post on a blog that supports this kind of extreme breeding, we are not going to change many if any minds there. And if they wish to learn more about the Duggars they can google them.

But no one is going to come here if they think everything is wonderful with the Duggar's. People come here because a seed gets planted elsewhere that makes them start to think a bit differently. I just think it is helpful to hear different perspectives in places where different perspectives are not heard. Maybe it will help some people think twice about it.

And that blog does not promote extreme breeding.

Hi artist, perhaps try these links:

nolongerquivering.com

undermuchgrace.blogspot.com

On FJ, there are a lot of threads on the Duggars, especially in the last couple of days, so right now on the first 2-3 pages there are probably several threads with some of the type of arguments you're looking for.

annalena, my thoughts exactly. It really surprises me that any balanced faith based web site would glorify them the way they do in this thread. I guess whether they (faith and family) are balanced or not is another debate. As a Catholic I recognize that fundamentalism exists in the Catholic Church as well. I'm surprised at times that you guys see very little of the Catholic fundamentalism. Most of the women you talk about are not Catholic.

Exactly!! People see only what they want to.

Where would Josiah and Joy-Anna (over 14, under 18) GO?? And, if it's not obvious by the body language and cold facial expressions of everyone except Josh, no one is "Happy" or "thrilled" except Jim-Bob and Michelle who get to keep the tv money rolling in a little longer. I say that knowing that they DO sincerely believe what they say--they just don't want to see what it's doing/done to their other 19 children.....

where would any of the kids go, without resources and without an education?

their only shot is susanna, really. amy they can't rely on because she's too much of a fame whore.

susanna- if they ever come to you- PLEASE help them. they don't have any other way.

OR of course they could come on here! do you think they know FJ exists??

I can seriously think of a dozen (or more things) my parents did that didn't make me happy as a kid. But that doesn't mean I should have had a say in it. Parents are parents and it really isn't their job to base their decisions on whether or not everyone in the family will be happy about it. I made many decisions that my kid wasn't happy about, but I certainly wouldn't have made a different choice based purely on his happiness. Heck, some kids wouldn't be happy unless they were served ice cream and pizza for every meal, every weekend was filled with a trip to Disney World, every school day they could stay home and sleep and every evening they could watch TV until 3:00am.

I would gladly put my child's health and safety above many things, but whether or not my child was happy with an adult, parental decision wouldn't be my biggest concern.

I really don't believe that the girls are free to go. If one of them left then I would believe that JB and Michelle are ok with them leaving. There is too much evidence to prove that the girls aren't free to go. The Duggars' involvement with College Plus shows that.

It's more then just unhappiness that these kids are dealing with. I'm sure the older ones are realizing that their mother could die as a result of this pregnancy. And after her health being in jeapordy after the last baby I think it is reckless for her to continue. You may not make choices based on your children's happiness but I'm sure you make choices based on what was best for the entire family. And loosing their mother is not in the best interest of these children.

      Stupid loneliness!
Kid 1 went back to college (yeah! But sad foe me, she stayed with me all summer. It was nice to start a new phase in our mother/daughter relationship)
Zero prospects on dates. (Not that I have tried online dating, scared of that but I have reached put to a new group at church, etc.
I asked a friend to go to dinner the other night so I wasn't eating alone, again. The friend had plans, all my friends always have plans. I see stuff on social media, I'm never invited. I'm single, I'm the 3rd or 5th wheel.
My one parent friend at kid 2's fall sport won't be there because their daughter made varsity (Yeah for her!!! Seriously happy for her. Sad for me for another sport I basically sit alone, did that majority of spring and summer sporting events.)
And now I'm crying as my mom told me 2 different funny stores that former teachers remembered about my twin. Both stories were about how they got a crack out of my twin's antics (my parents went to a funeral today and saw former colleagues). Teachers remember me (after all I was a twin and teachers' kid) but none would have memorable stories of me.
      I feel invisible.
Don't worry, this will pass,  it always does. I just need a pity party for a few days. I'm not in anyway going to harm myself. As lonely as I am, I have a very full life I (usually) love. I just needed to vent and cry for a moment.
If you are still reading this, thanks Fjer. 😊

Absolutely awful about the fires on Maui. In 2019, I stayed in Lahaina. I liked to sit on the sea wall, which is the only structure left now, and watch the water. People are receiving help, but many had to leave pets. Please donate to the Maui Humane Society, which is leading efforts to find, treat, and reunite pets.
