In my experience, it is easier to get things done yourself when you are in pain. It is too easy for a partner to move wrong and make it worse.

at the same time, it can be harder to get motivated if you're alone...

That's what salacious reading material is for. Or, y'know, just plain ol' porn.

While my uterus is killing me? IDK I haven't gotten to try with a partner (what a sad sad life I lead) but I just usually don't feel in the mood, and with no motivation to at least take advantage of someone else :P

It's vodka flavored with herbs that ferments for six weeks. Um, yeah, if I took that I might feel better too.

*Edited because I left out words.

Well, yes, that's what makes it a tincture. You can make them 'kid-friendly' with glycerin or even vinegar but I don't think it lasts as long.

If it makes you sleep, I should try it. The hardest painkillers you can find don't touch my cramps (Vicodin? Didn't do a thing. 800 mg ibuprofen takes the pain form a 10 to maybe a 9.5). However, a 20 minute nap will do the trick every time.

I am so glad that I'm done with all that, but back in the day when you still had to wear those god awful belts to hold your elephant pads, I was best friends with a hot water bottle and/or a heating pad. My cramps were so bad I literally was in tears for several days. My mom who was an ob/gyn nurse used to bring home those huge old post pregnancy pads for me for the middle days.

Once I started on the pill, it was like a vacation for me. My little old uterus just up and thanked me. At age 47 it ended. I was so thrilled.

I got Darvocet for my cramps, but found that Valium was a wonderful muscle relaxant and that really helped a lot.

Additional calcium and magnesium should help too. I didn't learn that until my DD was suffering but it takes the edge off for her.

do you mean only during period or as an everyday supplement?

We upped the ante during periods. 2 mag to 1 Cal. Great for restless legs, muscle cramps and as a sleep aid before bed. Some folks prefer the reverse ratio for their daily supplement. There are a few natural vit. companies out there that sell a reverse ratio cal mag.

I've found that one of the best forms of cramp relief is sex. An orgasm is a wonderful thing.

I am so jealous of people who get relief through orgasms! Orgasms make my cramps like 10x worse. Usually ends with me wailing in a hot tub.

Strangely, I do not let that stop me from masturbating.

Period sex squicks me out. I think it's usually because my flow is heaviest the first day or two, then on top of that I just feel shitty all around. Orgasms don't help much anyway :(

I usually forgo period sex because I only have two sets of sheets and two towels and I just don't feel like making things need to be laundered. And my shower is too small for sexytimes. I mean, we could probably swing it but shower sex kind of terrifies me, I always envision falling somehow, cracking my head and dying.

I'm so sorry... I don't understand that: "We upped the ante during periods"

do you mean you take it regularly and increase it during the period, and how much increase?

Well, if I knew that I wouldn't have noted the vodka. I don't know squat about tinctures or what they're made of or what their claimed purposes are. I've only vaguely skim when I've come across them in reading.

Alcohol = tincture. No wonder those who like them love them.
