He doesn't look particularly kind - more like a patriarse-in-training - in this March 2020 photo from Claudia Brownʻs wedding, but perhaps he is a decent person. I hope so, for Kellyʻs and her childrenʻs sakes.

A  few things.  He's holding an infant, Kelly and her husband are the only adults not smiling, there's a wide-stance kid in blue pants in the front standing in front of Scottie Brown, and a sister-mom on the far right wrangling a baby and a little sister.

I don’t know who that is on stage behind the groom(?), but he looks ridiculous.

It's the infamous Doug Philips, modeling his (in)famous wide stance.

Does that picture confirm Kelly's had at least one more with the latest husband?

I finally found Doug's over the top blog posts about the Bradrick wedding.

I forgot just how weird his obsession with their first kiss was.

Spoiler

After the vows were read and the bride and groom pledged their troth to each other, they sealed their covanent with a kiss— a very special kiss, the kind you don’t hear about any more. A kiss of purity and innocence — a genuine first kiss.

As one of the men selected to officiate in the ceremony, I had the glorious, ringside seat to the very first romantic kiss in the life of both the groom and the bride. This is now the fourth or fifth time in my life that I have had the privilege of watching such a “first kiss” as an officiating minister to a wedding ceremony. Here are my conclusions:

First, these beautiful kisses are worth ten thousand sermons. They are an antidote to the cynicism of the age. They are instructive and inspiring. They give hope to mothers and fathers, young men and ladies, and the children we hope will also grow up in purity before the Lord. We are all better off as a community of saints when a pure woman marries a pure man. Our job as parents, elders, friends, relatives is easier, because of this godly example.

Second, these kind of kisses are victory kisses. Against all “odds” the couple has run the race to the finish line. They have won the first great race of their lives. Victory is sweet.

Fourth, they are also covenant kisses. They represent the blessing of God on the faithfulness of parents, their children, and the children yet to be born who will drink deeply from the testimonies of those who went before them.

Finally, they are biblical kisses. I call them biblical kisses because these kisses (as much as any part of the wedding ceremony, other than the vows themselves) restore the biblical imagery of the marriage covenant to its beautiful representation of the eternal, holy groom and his spotless bride. Body and soul, bride and groom have kept themselves only for each other.

Praises to the Lord God.

Lourdes was one of the bridesmaids. I'm sure two of the others are sisters, but I don't recognize any other faces.

I thought there were multiple adult Bradricks! Wasn't his father also a leader in VF or something?

Maybe this answers your question: at the time of the wedding Michael Bradrick was the founder and president of Christian Heritage Home Educators of Washington.

Dougie and first kisses - the dude was OBSESSED with this.

Here is part of his over-the-top description of Tracy Leininger Craven's wedding in March 2004:

Leininger-CravenWedding.thumb.png.39ca4757b6f168d53dff47e458555994.png

Tracy is the older daughter of VF sugar daddy James Leininger, who financed a lot of VF stuff, including Dougieʻs & Beallʻs palatial home in San Antonio. Tracy was one of VFʻs featured authors whose book about her ancestor (Barbara Leininger), Alone Yet Not Alone, was turned into a film. Tracyʻs sister, Kelly Greyson, starred as their saintly ancestor - she seems to have led a very different life, post-VF.

Being obsessed with kissing is just so odd to me. First of all, it does nothing practical. Of course sex = babies and orgasm. But pressing your mouth against another person’s mouth? Nothing happens. Sure it can give you a rush if endorphins. But you can also kiss your grandma. And there’s nothing romantic about kissing your grandma. So the obsession with placing your mouth (a very germy place on your body) against another person’s mouth for the first time in front of 2000 people, is fucking bizarre. Sorry it is just weird as fuck.

Upper row from left: a Bradrick sister (Katherine?), Lourdes, no idea but maybe the oldest Bradrick sister whose name I forgot

Lower row from left: Blair Brown (Kelly's sister), Kelly, another Bradrick sister (Cecily?)

I think youʻre right - those three ladies are Peterʻs sisters. Michael & Susan Bradrick have nine kids.

A big part of it for Dougie is this idiocy: "Years ago, Tracy made a pledge to her heavenly Father and His earthly representative, (Tracy's dad), she pledged that she would give her daddy her heart, would trust him, and wait for God to send an appropriate tutor."

God's representative on earth?  SRSLY? The overweening arrogance of these men.

With shit like this how is anyone surprised to learn of sexual abuse within these families?!

Oh my god, I just realized something: historically, a very public kiss on the mouth is how vassals and their lords legally sealed their relationship hierarchy. Sheesh! Leave it to the fundies to be into romantic feudalism!

There are 9 adult Bradricks.  The most infamous scandal-wise besides Peter is the oldest daughter Betsy, whose husband was convicted of CSA many years ago and served a fairly substantial prison term (6-10 yrs?).  She did not divorce him (shocker).  He is now out and home, and they still have minor children (they had some ridiculous number of their own like 10 or 11, a mix of bio and adopted).  It never came out for sure whether his victim was one of his own kids or someone else's.

Philip Bradrick married Katie Valenti from Return of the Daughters fame.  I know at least a couple of the other adult daughters didn't marry until they were in their 30's or nearly 40.  The one who seems to have maybe turned out slightly normal is the baby, Stephen - I seem to recall seeing photos or posts about him where it looked like he was living a pretty normal non-fundie life.
